Shouting

Post by MichSt-Spartan »

Would it be possible to create the ability to shout over the microphone, and be heard by anyone close to you? It would be useful for communicating with players that are not in your squad but working alongside you, and possibly for taunting/diverting the enemy. And most importantly, it would be REALISTIC. (I didn't see this in the A.S.S. thread)

I believe Call of Duty: Finest Hour had this.

VOIP seems to be hardcoded unfortunately.

I read about a new feature in EAX 5.0 called EAX Voice that basically allows games to do exactly that. Supports the ability to provide direction (if the game has 3D VoIP), and apply environmental effects based on the surroundings of your character. This is a really awesome idea, because I have longed for the ability to shout at a team member amidst combat with my own voice.

Edited for grammar.

E.g. If you're in the Warehouses, and speak to someone on VOIP they'll hear the echo.

MIC Environment Fix, is where you can change the level.

In order for PR to implement this, everyone would need a sound card capable of EAX5.

Too bad about hardcoding.
Otherwise this "shouting" thing would be great for people in a vehicle.
Often a taxi pilot is giving lifts to people not in his/her squad.

OOH, the things I would say while standing over the body of a dead enemy sniper... *wrings hands while grinning menacingly*
