U.S. Forces: 3rd Batallion, 75th Rangers

Weapons: M4A1 Carbines w/ Aimpoint 68 Optic sights, M249 SAWs w/ Aimpoint 68 Optic sights, AT4, M203 grenade launchers, M14DMR, M67 frag grenades, smoke grenades, M240G machine gun

Support:
HMMWV w/ Mk. 19 Grenade Launcher
HMMWV w/ M2 .50 cal machine gun
UH60 Blackhawk w/ mini-guns
Commander controlled mortar strikes

OpFor: Generic terrorists

Weapons: AK47 assault rifles, AK74 assault rifles, RPK machine guns, RPG-7s, SA-7 Grail, GP-25 grenade launchers, improvised explosive devices (molotov cocktails, pipe bombs, etc), old Soviet grenades, SVDs

Support:

Technicals with mounted .50 cal machine guns
Commander controlled mortar strikes

Location: In and around a Middle Eastern city. The city will contain many one or two story buildings, and many alleys for the terrorists to ambush US forces. Berms and foliage outside city for U.S. forces to take cover

Starting points: Rangers will start a few hundred meters west of the city. Terrorists will start in the city.

U.S. Objective: Take control of weapons cache. Obtain documents.

OpFor Objective: Defend cache and documents

O cool i like Maybe and a big hill just north of the town. Looking over the entire town. The time would be early morning with a light blue sky but little sun some clouds. It would be raining lightley. The visibility would be around 100 yards.

I like the idea about the commander controlled mortar strikes. That would be nice to have in urban maps.

I wonder if the US forces will find out that they needed heavier support in the shape of APC's (tracked ones perferably) in this map like they did in the real Mogadishu.

Well, this map won't be like Mogadishu, because the U.S. Forces won't be outnumbered 138 (???) to several thousand

what is it with these commander controlled thing??

i say give the troops mortars and arty (in general not just on this map) or leave them out all together, the commander is too close to god than he is to a commander on a battlefield.

No dont give mortars to the players. Keep commander It helps teamwork if the mortars were a player thing no one would use them. I say make mortars a commander thingy. For real dont give anny kind of ardy to the players.

when they spill from the hands of the creator? alot.

i would have no problem being decimated (in game of course) by a continuous stream of artillery and/or mortar fire being fired skillfully by a player, id probably be angry but no where near as angry as i am when artillery is dropped by a player who can easily scan the battleifeld from a few hundred feet up. (or use them to compliment his fly-by in an attack helo). thats way too much power to give a player... of course, as you stated, this is your map, but thats my input :) good luck with the map. :grin:

Ok dude keep commander mortars will just be small explosions. Dude If mortars are given to people i will quite playing this mod dude no dude mortars in players hand is gay you wont hit shit!!!! This is why fh is the worst mod for bf1942. This is why i like this map idea

Forgotten Hope was brilliant along with its mortar system.

How 'bout we make the commander controlled mortars slightly inaccurate?

There are alot of people (myself included) who would disagree with your last point. FH was one of the most popular mods available for BF1942 (DC i think included player controlled mortars as well?) now you cant really be wrong, its your opinion and thats fine, but this is my opinion, player opperated bombardment weapons are much more even-handed than the commander's strikes. if you can use the mortars correctly, and i cant but ive seen it done, then you can hit alot.

also i wouldnt say mortars are 'small' explosions, if theyre realistic they can do alot of damage. im just putting in my 2 cents on what should be done with the artillery used in game.

Well i hated fh it was so bad in my opionon. Now Fh2 is looking good they got off with some good stuff. But fh was just like dog shit a big waste of time pointless. But thats what i think. Prmm owns the hole fh mod :)

haha i can see that youre very adamant in your opinion. IMO FH was and still is great, i play it more than i do vanilla BF2. but, if i may ask, what do you see now that you like so much? if i had to bet id say you'll see alot of the same stuff in FH2 that you did in FH. the graphics and models will look nicer, there will be iron sights etc. but im sure you'll see things that are much the same.

No fh2 has a storyline they have something to follow plus i hated all bf1942 mods they all sucked. I think i played the fh mod for like 15 minets then i uninstalled it. I love bf2 engion so fh2 should be better.

So you're actually going to like FH2 because it has prettier graphics?
