First Off Hi! Played PR for a while, but never did the forums for it
Second, these Civilians are really starting to get on my nerves. I was with a Squad tonight when the Civilians were just following us. We knew they were in a squad doing recon. They followed us for about 2 mins. But we couldn't "arrest" them due to our Spec Ops tactics deep behind enemy lines. As I said, he must of been in a squad. 30 seconds later we see a squad of insurgents coming after us with all out AK's firing away. Of course, we had to do a little "execution" to those dumb Civilians.
My suggestion: Keep the Civilians, but for bloody sakes MAKE them SO THEY CANT BE IN A SQUAD!! Or disable their mics or something. It's annoying. Seeing more Civilians than soldiers.
welcome. haven't played 0.6 yet because every time i try te freakin download isnt workin. itll probly work tomorrow tho. anyway, from how you describe it i would have to agree and that must be annoying, however i think evicting them from mics and squads would have to do with hard coding. the only real fix would be to nerf the civillians

How close were these civilians following you? You could have just knifed them if they were really close by and go along your "Spec Ops tactics". If they were far away though, just ignore them and just smoke out to get them off your trail, if they haven't already spotted you. As for your suggestion, it's essential for civilians to be able to be in a squad and communicate or else no one would be using the civilians the correct way.
Yeah the whole thing of him following you is his current job.

Yesterday i seen a civvie throwing stones at me, so i chased him and he ran to this corner so i knew something was up. I got my zoom up on my rifle and juuuuuuust peeked around the corner and there was 2 .50 techs and a couple insurgents. Luckily i had an ifv to bring up and kill em.
I love em man they do great things for insurgency mode
Sometimes the civilians just need an asswhooping to show 'em who's boss... I was on the crane on Desert Storm with solodude23... the insurgents knew we were up there, and we were being harassed by small arms fire. A couple of civilians were sent up, and I knifed the first one (he came all the way up), while the second one stood on the second highest level and just looked at us. I knew if I went down to knife him, I'd probably get shot, and if I just let him stay there I'd get stoned to death... so I just shot him with my M40. There are some circumstances in Project Reality that justify the killing of civilians.

I only shoot them when they're in cars, on ladders, or on ropes, where it does not count

All good points and storys. But to our squads luck, we had no smoke from a large firefight we were having. Thanks any way guys. Maybe the Devs. will consider another option for the Civ. but right now, I'll suck it up and take it
why are you people killing them. theres a couple of punishments you get. u get a full 60 secs onto ur spawn time, 10 tickets lost, not allowed limited kits for 15 mins and if its insurgent mode then u loose intel points. (not sure how many intel points)
so next time you kill one remember. u better be stayn alive for a long time.
If they're in a car, on a ladder or climbing a rope, none of those penalties apply.

You lose 3 intelligence points for killing a civilian.
This is what I have been looking out for in the case a civilian will lead you to an ambush and so far I've had positive results:
1. Keeping his distance from you while still in the range of throwing rocks.
This is what I have been seeing lately. Everyone that followed the civilians doing this have been easily lead into an ambush.
2. Constantly trying to get the attention of squads.
I was with my squad on Hemland and we managed to bog down the insurgents to their last flag. We were behind a small hill to the East of that flag providing cover fire across the river near the bridge. A lot of civilians were running across that bridge and quite a few of them were trying to annoy us. I just kept telling my squad over VOIP to not try it because I knew something would happen.
3. Constant annoyance.
Determined civilians will try again an again to get you to chase after him. I pretend to get annoyed by shooting close to his head a few times. Then pretending I'm absolutely done with him, I try to fake a chase by pulling out my knife and sprinting at him. As soon as he turns his back, I count to about 2-3 seconds, stop chasing him, and go back to my station. I once saw a civilian keep running until he arrived at his ambush point.
So far it has kept me and my squad alive dozens of times.

10 extra tickets to the enemy every 10 minutes does not make a huge difference in the outcome of a match... giving a very ill-equipped faction who rely mostly on surprise, underhanded tactics, and use of the terrain a sniper rifle can.
Why he was up in that position with such a valuable asset is a good question though.
Was I in your squad Yesterday on Devils Brigade? You were my squad leader and we owned.
