National Anthems can be used anywhere, as they are symbol of ones national heritage, when putting a national anthem into something, whether recorded by the Band of the Royal Marines or Fred Bloggs down the road. It wont make any difference, an anthem is an anthem and that is it.

Copyright works on a basis of 70 years, e.g. The Copyright on a piece of music or book or whatever, lasts for 70 years after the composers/authors/creators death. As the person who composed God Save the Queen has been dead over 70 years there is no problem, same with the Englishman who composed the US Anthem, etc..... most of the worlds national anthems have been around 100 years or more.

Plus the national anthems are that well and widely known and played so often, I dont think anyone will complain, because how can the Russian State symphony orchestra proved that they recorded the anthem, when it is all the same key, same parts, same time signature, same speed, same of music. Which has been recorded 100's of time over.

For the British, how many times do you hear 'god save the queen' in a year doesnt matter where you hear. I watch all British Sporting events, they all play 'god save the queen', then there is Trooping the Colour, Beating the retreat, Proms, Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance. Plus EA have used them for their FIFA Games.

Put them in, there is no penalty for being patriotic.

Yes played by the Band of the Royal Welsh, Sung by Katherine Jenkins at the 6 nations in Cardiff.

The Welsh anthem is a nice anthem, though, I prefer Men of Harlech. Yes it is the song sung by the British in the film Zulu

Just a quick update.
The Israeli Anthem has been added to the list

Mods/devs.

Please sticky this:
1. So it is easy for me to find, so I can edit it for new 'community' factions.
2. So the devs of the community factions or yourselves dont have to look far for the Anthems?

Thanks

Don't know about any of the other countries , but my Canadian national anthem has been re-written so many damn times so to be politically correct and in both "official" languages hardly anyone knows the words to it any more once they get past "Oh Canada".

IMO anthems should NEVER be sung , only played. Some of them (Russian , British , Canadian , German) are quit moving when simply played but boring as hell when sung.

I think the reason I don't find some middle easter/oriental anthems that appealing is simply because I am not used to the scale format they use so their music sounds "strange" to me. Need to better edumacate myself here me thinks.

But thanks for the links. I enjoyed them.

I must say that Land of Hope and Glory sounds good.

How many anthems as the United Kingdom got?
Jerusalem, Land of Hope and Glory, I vow to thee, my country and Rule, Britannia! are the ones I can remember.

Upon winning I think Rule, Britannia! is more fitting.

For a start, the four home nations (England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland) all have their own Anthems

England: Land of Hope and Glory
Wales: Mae Hen Wlad fy Nhadau (Land of my Fathers)
Scotland: Flower of Scotland
Ireland: Amhrán na bhFiann (a Soldiers Song)

Obviously each having other patriotic songs

The Britain as a whole has many patriotic songs, it all stems back to pomp and ceremony and tradition which we have had for a very long time, dating back to a time when we werent ruled by leftwing, politically correct, brainless idiots (Labour, Libdem, Tory)
Lets not get into politics.

All Britains anthems were wrote for different occassions, but essentially stand for the same thing

Just for a bit of useless info for you. You may notice that the Welsh and Irish anthems are not in English. They are infact ancient languages that have survived for over 2000 years.
Welsh - Brythonic
Irish - Celtic/Goidelic
Scotland do have a ancient language and is part of the Same Branch as the Irish
Brython being the ancient Brythonic term for Britain
Britannia being the ancient Latin term for Britain

Anthems - Please let know if you starting a new faction for PR, please PM me and I will sort it out for you.

We should definately change all the win music. But now that we've talked about the win music, what about the losing music? That's also different for each team.
This is what I think should be used:
Russia - Katyusha
USA - When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again
Britain - Don't know yet
Canada - I'se b'ys? (j/k)
China - Have one in mind, forget what it's called, I'll post when I remember
Taiwan - no idea...

I'll find recordings of the above if possible. If anybody knows suitable pieces for the remaining nations, feel free to post them.

Come to think of it there is a good piece of music done by the British Military
Evening Hymn and Last Post/Sunset and as Canada is part of the Commonwealth and the Queen being head of state for Canada, Britain etc..... then I think that will be I nice one for both Canada and Britain.
Here is a link to Evening Hymn and Sunset played by the "Band and Bgles of the Rifles"

IDF Community mod is using Winning/Losing sound from Tikva, Israel's national anthem - this was done by RC.

If you can come up with something better let me know, I'm pleased with the ones we have for now.

America should be "When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again" and Russia should be "Katyusha".
China is a bit difficult, because most Chinese music is positive, not minor scale sounding.
