US. Army questions (Now that .6 has been in effect)

Post by Expendable Grunt »

Now that .6 is out, and you've tried out some new stuff, I've got some more questions about the US Army faction.

First Q: They're due in .8 right?

Second Q: What kits will they have, and what will the equipment be? Will it be just like the other organized armies, only with an M4 instead of the M16/G3/QBZ95/LA80?

Third Q: How about vehicles? I'm assuming the Abrams will be their MBT, as well as the Bradley (I *think* that's their IFV?), and the Humvee. What will they get for Air support, both transport and otherwise?

Fourth Q: What sort of Environment are they going to be seen in? I'm assuming that, since they're armed with carbines, we'll see them in an exclusively urban area? Any plans to have a current map have US Army, such as Ejod, or Jabal, for (poor) example?

Thanks. Sort of hoping to get an FAQ going -- the old threads are somewhat helpful, but since we've had a whole new edition come out (which is a whole new game really), I figured some things might have changed.

yep m4
accept with aimpoint red dot-not 4x ACOG (aimpoint=us army's official optic, correct?). this means potential balance issues
new m24 model would be nice, but dice one is ok

vehicles. stryker! bradley. m1a2. humvees. probably the apache longbow (already made). littlebirds. blackhawks (imo the marines should be using more ch47's instead).

of course im not a dev though, so...

I've actually been waiting to hear about the US army too

i hope that the army gets the proper ACU uniforms like this

Image
US army ACU
its very different from what the marines wear. different color, body armor is a little different, helmet is smaller, and the same camo is worn in all enviroments, desert, forest, city etc. whereas the marines have MARPAT camo, which comes in desert and forest versions. personally like the marine camo better and the DEVS already got that in game and i think it looks great

Oh no.

You know what'll happen now, don't you? He'll go back to 1924 and kill Hitler before his rise to power. Then Stalin will invade Europe! And there'll be Mammoth tanks and chronospheres and MiGs and Gap Generators!

D:

Anyway, I fully support the addition of the US army (and the duck shoot that brings for the "opfor" factions facing off against the guys in the camo that doesn't work and the rifles that are less powerful and accurate than everyone else's.)

I for one say we shouldn't just make the Army, we should make accurate US forces in General. This entails giving the Army the Air that is already in game along with the stryker and such, M4s as their rifles, different uniform (models please, the same old model is just getting on my nerves lol) and all of that. However, I think that if we are going to devote some time to getting the Army right, we should devote time to getting the USMC right.

The whole "They aren't just the Marines, they are a combined force so forget the Huey" won't work anymore cause they are no longer a combined force. This means the correct vehicles for the Marines are needed. And I feel that we should do away with the old Dyce models and update the models for the players themselves. The models we have now are wrong for both branches and no amount of reskinning will fix it. I'm sure this is the same for China too, but I don't know much about their gear so I can't really say. How about we fix player models eventually, once we get all the pressing matters in?
