All grenadiers will eventually have 4x scopes on their rifles.GR34 wrote:Thats not true the Chinese Grenadier has a scope on his gun so he is basically the uber1337haxorz kit
BTW Artnez, great job on the answer. You did the job for me

In fact, when im expecting to go into close combat, i rather pick rifle without scope. It makes aiming up close easily spray and prey because of how narrow your sight can be while aiming, or as i tend to move crouched iron sight on expecting something to come up any second. With scope it takes far longer to prepare to shoot.
Generally i play inflarty maps, and even on maps like assault in mestia i end up picking medic kit because of all around usefullness... and it dosent have scope.
If i see enemy far away, i mark them, tell to SL, and try to proceed closer if its on our squads path.
I admit that im not best shot, but i sertainly love the thrill of jungle/forrest combat where you haveto move slow and keep it low, up and close.
Alot of point of views here too i suppose.
Whitch leads me into wondering... could scope be rubbed off and replaced with ironsight at will?

LOL
Yeah, we're talking about real armies, not us sissies without scopes.
Though, to be fair, I know at least some of the recon units got all the fancy stuff like the M-16A4's, scopes, and cool gadgets to attach to the rails. I didn't even get the new flak jacket until last year. I still had the one that wouldn't even stop a 9mm round. Go figure...the Marines just don't get enough funds, but what can you do?

I love scopes, in fact, I own an EOtech 552, and it's absolutely wonderful. Any chance those scopes will be in game? Like with the US Spec Ops perhaps?
Anyways, it seems that just about all front line soldiers are packing optics on their rifles nowadays. I have seen just about every military and law enforcement optic in existence mounted on soldier and marine rifles. Although ACOGs, Aimpoints, and EOtechs seem to be the most common.
Even this picture, everyone excluding the M240 gunner has an ACOG.

What did I notice? Well for one my I noticed my co-workers looking at me really weird, almost scared.rico11b wrote: While standing up take a rifle without a scope and aim the open sights at a distant target. You may notice that the rifle is EASY to hold and seems to give a very stable sight picture. Now take that same rifle and quickly put a scope on it. Now aim at the same target as before while standing in the same place. What did you notice?

Lets put it like this....i dare any of you to find a picture of British or American servicemen in Iraq now without some sort of sight. Shit even most of their machine guns have scopes on them. ITS JUST MORE REAL!! why dont you guys lock this?

Well I would hope they have some kind of "sight". I mean who wants to see a helpless blind soldier get gunned down.ironcomatose wrote:Lets put it like this....i dare any of you to find a picture of British or American servicemen in Iraq now without some sort of sight. I could show you PLENTY of pics of my guys and I without scopes in Iraq and Afghanistan. I could show you plenty of pics of us in old gear because the Marines didn't have the funds to equip everybody. I could show you our Hummer that was still green (in the desert mind you) but had tan doors. My point is, it all comes down to funds. Most of the "cool" pictures you will find may have all the latest gear but that's because there is a certain image that the military and media wants to portray. Everybody wants to see our guys shown with the best equipment and such to show the world how advanced we are. I assure you that a good percentage of troops are lacking in equipment such as scopes and such. When you do run across the odd Marine with a scope, he is likely a guy with something made for CQB such as a red dot...not anything that has any kind of zoom. I can't speak much for the other services as a whole other than to say not many U.S. Army or Air Force guys had anything but M-16A2's with good ole' iron sights.ironcomatose wrote:Lets put it like this....i dare any of you to find a picture of British or American servicemen in Iraq now without some sort of sight. lol, just a friendly little tid bit sekiryu but there are a LOT of companies in the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Unit and I'm willing to bet more than 1 India Company. If you are going to try and designate the Unit you need to designate the unit the way I'll put in later. Luckily I saw that same video I believe and it was India Co 3/1 (3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment. Read any number of these ways: India 3/1 or India Company 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines or just 3rd of the 1st or any mix of those).
It can really mean the difference in a conversation like this on what unit you are talking about on whether you are talking about a MSSG unit (MEU Service Support Group) or a line Marine company. Just tryin to prevent any confusion round here.

I just watched it and counted 4 without scopes just from a quick viewing. I will say that some units are better equipped than others but it doesn't mean everybody is equally equipped. It is very inaccurate to say that all of the armed forces have scopes on their rifles...that's all I'm trying to say.sekiryu wrote:There once was a YouTube video about the 3rd MEU, India Company, I think, who were in Fallujah. Not a single one was scope-less.

Well one thing that might make this more plausible is that BF2 is taking place in the near future. Perhaps within this time frame optics are in wide spread use for rifleman? Perhaps there was cash infusion?
I hear what you guys are saying, but the only work around I can see is that the Devs implement the unlock function on the kit selection menu. You could have scope'd and non-scoped rifleman. No garuntee that people will select the iron sight (except for CQC) over the scope though.

Isn't this thread a bit redundant anyway considering a lot of the kits don't have scopes anyway? Rifleman and spec-op always had scopes. Medics and support all have iron sights.
Sure there's a bit of a zoom on them which isn't exactly realistic, but then the maps are so massive it would make those kits too hard and boring to play with.
