I saw COD4 first hand at the Infinity Ward offices for a private community summit not too long ago.

The game is absolutely stunning and extremely immersive, however the multiplayer lacks many things that BF2 has. In general, the engine is absolutely beautiful, but there will be no driveable vehicles in MP. Can they be modded in? Maybe. Is it worth it? I doubt it, the MP maps are too small. Modding for COD4 is going to turn this into another Insurgency mod like the one for HL2.

The game will be moddable though... they just weren't so enthusiastic about modding when I interviewed them.

I promise all of you that you'll love the SP though. It's amazing.

If I have to shoot a guy more than 3 time to kill him, I guarantee I'll hate it.

/tired of these pea-shooters in games
For PR I play exclusively on Tactical Gamer server as "vanity11"

For ArmA I play exclusively on Tactical Gamer (coop and evo) as "Vanity"

They will have a "veteran" mode where you get no hud, no crosshairs, and kills are pretty much 1 shot - among a few other things that replicate America's Army style gameplay.

In Hardcore Mode, "a single shot in the chest, heart, etc. can kill, while getting shot in the leg will cause the player's character to fall down."
That's from Wiki about Call of Duty 4 but you can check the official CoD4 site.

Meh.. ArmA has the same features but more.. Leaning (Compatible with KB and TrackIR), Amazing mod support (They managed soccer mode in a combat mod with listening bots :D ), Fast-Roping is modded.. This engine is so modable, while CoD4 is just Inf only BF2 (MP) and no mods..

If ARMA were an Arcade shootem up, Im sure the DEVs would have considered it.

It also is quite shite on current systems, but in a year or two things will start to come out nicely.

I think ArmA would be a good choice...they could rework some of the movements\guns whatever and we'd see some cool stuff. It is really rough on your system though and I'm not sure how well multiplayer is supported. I think we for SURE need a workable 128 player limit AT LEAST on anything we move to.

ArmA just "feels" weird to me. Like I'm moving through sludge. Americas Army was the same way. I know they're trying to slow down the gameplay, but taking 3 seconds to hit the dirt or stand up isn't my idea of fun.

They once even (on Helmand) used a car as a ram to destroy the building I was standing on. I was running like a maniac around that now much smaller stripe of roof, while 5 hungry sharks stood below just waiting for me to fall down. The insurgents just stood there an laughed.

Then again, fastroping does not get me off. The "lean" function does. ;)
.... Was this recently? I think that may have been me. I got tired of the damn civvies getting onto the roof so I rammed your building.

'[R-DEV wrote:Gaz']VALVe, argueably the most mod-friendly developers to date with released titles.
Yeah I would argue with that. :P Id is certainly the most mod-friendly developer. And it's interesting cuz they just do it out of the goodness of their hearts, not because they are vultures looking for another mod team to make mods for them to take away from the players and then charge for them as full games. I hate Valve. Maybe I wouldn't if they had an original Idea more than once a decade and weren't greedy ********.

Great news Rhino. Didn't know that one. We did not find one engine that does not meet our needs ;)

Oh no... There will be C4 and it seems you can the throw it really far. It'll just be like early BF2. Now, I haven't played BF2 when it first came out but I heard about some really bad things about tha throwable C4 back in BF2... Oh no...

Yeah, it was on the TV2 server if I'm not mistaking. And for the record, my life ended by a bullit and not a knife. :D I was very pleased.
