Try these, there are several tutorials for mapping and terrain etc. Hope it helps, it's all gibberish to me even when I do get started something goes wrong with the editor and it's back to the drawing board.

Question for experiences mappers:

Do you think I will be able to make a decent map of what I have explained throughout the topic (the Ranger map idea) if I have just recently gone through a few tutorials?

It takes place in the Middle East, lol

Not much rainfall there.

Anyway, I'm using this tutorial from PlanetBattlefield and it's talking about placing buildings... it says the buildings are in the StaticObjects folder, but I can't find it, even though I'm in the right directory

what parent category are you using?
bf2, prmm, or sf?

it will only show up in bf2 parent
under common/staticobjects/there are several different buildings like
village, industry, adn such.

Haha, I still gotta learn how to make roads, as well.

Should I just cover the entire map with dirt/sand desert material and then place buildings over it?

And how to I place water
