In BF1942, flying by keyboard/mouse was made simple. The game would accept simultaneous control commands easily. For example, I could simultaneously press two keys on the keyboard (up + roll) AND additionally use the mouse for small corrections; all at the same time. I still play BF1942 to this day and I'm almost untouchable in the air, BUT, when I fly in BF2 my pilot skills are as useless as a brick.
In BF2, I have noticed that some keyboard commands, when used in conjunction with the mouse, cancel out either the keyboard or mouse control and thus, the aircraft or chopper crashes into the ground. For example, when in a tight turn using a jet, I can use the keyboard to "pull up" but if I touch the mouse in the slightest, it nullifies the keyboard "pull up" command and the jet will crash.
My question is:
- Is the nullify effect (the nullification of flight controls when both the mouse and keyboard are used simultaneously) hardcoded or can something be done to allow the use of both mouse and keyboard at the same time?
- If it is hardcoded, does anyone have any suggestions on how to avoid this (other than using a joystick)?
Any constructive comments are welcome; I would really like to be able to fly again in BF2 without my team screaming in terror during flight and without having to resort to playing BF1942 just to fly.
