I have a Sound blaster Live 24 bit that has EAX, but when I set it up on hardware all the voices stutter.
So I have to put it on Software. I dunno what all thats about.
Happens to me too. Can't hear a damn thing when the voices start going. Any of the sound guys who know something about this and how to fix it?
Did you read my post? Sound blaster Live 24 bit wont support BF2 hardware rendering. So change it to software or buy a better card. If you turn it on hardware you get choppy ingame-voices.. This LINK explains it more

What is the difference between Hardware & Sofware in the Bf2 audio options?
Software sucks power from your "CPU" (some FPS loss)
Hardware draws power from your sound card (some FPS gain)

Heh, nope, I didn't. Was just skimming through quickly and saw someone with the same problem as me. Just read your post. Thanks. ;)

Hardware: Audio is processed by your sound card.

Software: Audio is processed by your CPU.

in addition to jaymz first post, after youve installed the openal update

- go into your Battlefield2 folder, search for the file "BF2OpenAL.dll"
- rename this file to something like "BF2OpenAL.dll.original"
- go to your windows/system32 folder and search for the "wrap_oal.dll" file
- copy this file into your battlefield2 folder
- rename the file "wrap_oal.dll" in your battlefield2 folder to "BF2OpenAL.dll"

this should especially help all audigy2 users and other with software soundrendering to get a better soundexperience with EAX enabled!

Yeah, did all that last nite, sofad. Definitely helped. Sounds are crisper and more defined, too. Thanks!

'[R-DEV wrote:Jaymz']2 steps to help improve your PR audio.

1. Download and install this : http://developer.creative.com/articles/ ... =38&aid=46
props to jerome16v for that link

2. Set your BF2 audio settings to : Software / High / EAX enabled.

I apologize for people experiencing problems such as pin-pointing locations of enemy fire etc. For this release we're relying heavily on EAX but I promise that it's a step towards something really special we're working on for the PR audio experience in 0.7.

NOTE: All users with EAX hardware (sounds blaster cards etc) ignore this post and use : Hardware / High / EAX enabled. Or in the case of X-Fi choose the appropriate option. ;)
One helpful poster gave me the heads up and gave me this warning:

Spyware warning oalinst.exe

Any other ideas and other download resources I could try? By the way, I downloaded that file yesterday, and earlier today I had a quick browse in my startup list and suddenly saw some strange applications happily running that I have never before laid eyes on. When I then got the "Spyware warning" a bell went off.

May I recommend Prevx and with free trial. It will take care of it. Tried and tested. My system is now all fine.

I might have been spared because of an over jealous firewall that is extremely sensitive to any change. So much in fact that it still finds PR a bit fishy. ;)

Strange thing though, I have KN1 Extreme SLI with a slight BIOS failure that messes up the USB ports, and after that install - it messed up everything else, but it fixed that error. Oh well, can't have you cake and eat it I guess.

Yikes, thanks for the heads-up. Strange though, seemed like such a legit program. But yeah, I'll remove it right away. Better safe than sorry, eh...

Prevx FTW.

The site warns trying to manually deal with this problem. It might just be a scare tactic, but since it has 40 days free trail, I can't guess why.

is it true that you can't just uninstall this software and that you need Prevx software to get rid of the spyware??

According to the site Prevx, this little nasty trojan spreads across your entire system and can hide behind any rock or ... *cough* file. They strongly recommend that you use some sort of program to weed it out.

I ran OALINST.EXE again to check and it came up with a license agreement from Creative Labs Inc, but I noticed when I hit cancel it says "Installation Successful" anyhow
