Al Basrah, Iraq (Reuters) - Thousands of English. soldiers are on the offensive north of Al Basrah are facing fierce resistance from hundreds of Iraqi Insurgent who are ready to fight to the death, an Airforce Colonel said on Friday.

The militants are making their stand in and around the Iraqi city of Al Basral, 545 km (339 miles) South of Baghdad, where the Nato. military on Friday launched one of its biggest operations since the invasion of Iraq in 2003.

"It is house to house, block to block, street to street, sewer to sewer," said 16AA|Group Captain.Mongolian, commander of Operation FoxHunt in Iraq's Al Basrah province.

Not far from BASRAH, A U.S. attack helicopters Was Shot down, 2 pilot was kidnapped by suspected Insurgent gunmen on the outskirts of the town of Basrah early on Friday Morning, Nato. military said.

The military said those Insurgent had been see moving the pilots round the town .

A top Nato. commander suggested it could be Next Week before troops are sent in to get the pilots back, but word is that a small strike forces of Nato Troops are gearing up for a operation from the airport just outside the town with gunships and APC were ready to take responsibility for getting the Pilots Back,

"I think if everything goes the way it's going now, there's a potential that by the end of the weekend we would be able to get our boys back with little loss and Iraqi security forces could take over," 16AA|Group Captain.Mongolian said.
16AA|Group Captain.Mongolian the top commander for day-to-day operations in Iraq, told Pentagon reporters by videolink that the Strike forces might be ready sooner but it was hard to predict exactly when.

Nato. officials accuse East Asia Coalition Forces Islamist Mujahedeen of using car bombings and other violence to try to tip Iraq into full-scale sectarian civil war. A suicide truck bomb blamed on Ghatak Company killed 87 people outside a Shi'ite mosque in Baghdad on Tuesday.

Group Captain.Mongolian estimated several hundred Mujahedeen/and other forces militants were at Al Basrah and it would be a long and dangerous job for Nato. forces to flush them out.
"They will not go any further. They will fight to the death," Group Captain.Mongolian told Reuters and another news agency.
"There have been houses that were used by unit 777 as safe houses ... their entire structures rigged with massive explosives."
Basrah is the capital of Al Basrah province. The region has long been an East Asia Coalition hotbed, but attacks against U.S. and Iraqi forces have soared here since a four-month-old U.S.-led security crackdown in Baghdad and operations elsewhere prompted many East Asia Coalition militants and other gunmen to seek sanctuary in Basrah.

The campaign is part of a offensive involving tens of thousands of US. and British soldiers pushing on with simultaneous operations in Baghdad, and to the south and west of the capital.

Tough fighting is expected over the next 3 Months , Nato. military officials have said, sketching a rough timeline for the combined operations.

TORTURE HOUSE

Group Captain.Mongolian said Nato. forces were making some grisly discoveries as they scoured Basrah.

He said residents led soldiers to a house in the western part of the city that appeared to have been used to hold, torment and kill hostages. Soldiers destroyed it.
"When you walk into a room and you see blood trails, you see saws, you see drills, knives, in addition to weapons, that is not normal," Group Captain.Mongolian said.
Nato. military commanders have said the combined operations were taking advantage of the completion of a build-up of Nato forces in Iraq to 156,000 soldiers.

President George W. Bush has sent 28,000 extra troops mainly to Baghdad to help curb sectarian bloodshed and buy time for Shi'ite Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki to reach a political accommodation with disaffected minority Sunni Arabs, who are locked in a cycle of violence with majority Shi'ite Muslims.

Nato. casualties have been light so far, given the scope of the offensive in Diyala, with one soldier killed, although in Baghdad roadside bombs are exacting a heavy toll.

Nato says the fight against East Asia Coalition in Diyala also involved local Sunni Arabs who opposed Nato but who wanted to end East Asia Coalition domination of their communities.

He said this included fighters from the 1920 Revolution Brigade, a large Sunni Arab insurgent group that has fallen out with East Asia Coalition over its indiscriminate killing of civilians.

the story is set the army are in place please vist your headquaters for Roe

that is all

At 18:00hrs GMT a Resistance bomb was detinated and killed 3 British soldiers in az-Zubayr, south of al-Basrah. In a dispatch posted at 7:10pm Mecca time Friday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a British military column in the town of az-Zubayr, southwest of al-Basrah in southern Iraq.

The al-Basrah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of az-Zubayr who witnessed the attack as saying that a bomb that had been planted on the side of the road to the center of the city blew up as a column of several British armored vehicles was driving past. The explosion damaged one of the vehicles in the column, killing 3 British soldiers.

Quds Press reports high explosive bomb destroys British tank in al-Basrah; British troops then beat up reporters who tried to photograph the burning vehicle. A large Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a British patrol near the al-Andalus fuel station in al-Basrah, a source in the local puppet police told Quds Press. The source said that the bomb totally destroyed the Warrior,
which was observed on fire.

Journalists in the southern Iraqi city of al-Basrah boycotted a press conference convened by the British consul in the city after
the explosion because two reporters who were near the scene of the attack had then been attacked by British troops. A number of British soldiers began beating up the correspondents as they tried to take photographs of the burning British vehicle.

The British troops destroyed the reporters’ cameras. The British occupation authorities failed to report on the nature or extent of casualties in the bomb attack, but did say that Civilians were not to be engaged.

The spokesperson for all EAC forces was quoted from a speech in a near by mosque "Let this be a warning to all Infidel forces who invade our lands, we will use fire and flame to overcome these great odds. We will hold Al-Basrah with our lives - Allah Ackbar!".

No comment was made on the location or safty of the downed NATO pilots.

AL BASRAH (AFP)
- EAC Insurgent groups operating out of the Al Basrah city sector are announcing a divine victory this hot summer Sunday evening. The warlord known only by some under the alias of “Big G” called a spontaneous press conference from his fortified palace in the south east of Al Basrah.

Surrounded by insurgents and civilian supporters, he proclaimed from the steps of his palace balcony that he had survived fully intact despite the infidel hunters who were sent after him and his soldiers. He gleamed with over confidence as he announced to the press that “the imperial Nato coalition agents had once again been resisted and pushed out their Al Basrah!"

As you may recall, Operation Fox Hunt surfaced in the press over two weeks ago as a last resort tactic to save two Nato pilots who were being held captive by insurgents. It was also clear that in the same sweep, Nato forces were expected to clear Al Basrah of the warlord and his soldiers for good.

Though after tonight’s developments, it seems from the Nato's perspective, Operation Fox Hunt was severely underestimated and did not result in overall mission success. However there is great news for at least one family tonight as Nato is announcing they have managed to rescue one of the pilots and are holding him at the air base hospital.

When asked, Nato declined to comment on the fate of the second pilot only saying that the matter was being investigated. They refused to comment on whether or not they had received an ultimatum from EAC agents approximately thirty minutes into the operation threatening to behead the pilot should they not withdraw immediately.

We’ve looked deeper into the matter and have received info from reliable sources close to the insurgent warlord that the pilots severed head could be found sitting on a couch in what he called one of Al Basrah's many "house of pain". In an almost joking manner, the sources also seemed to be daring the Nato forces to come back in and find it.

Clearly the insurgents are emboldened by what they view as devine victory tonight. At this very moment they continue to patrol the streets of Al Basrah and replenish their ammo dumps and checkpoints with impunity.

Nato still claims plenty of success on tonight’s operation despite suffering severe casualties. They announced they had killed literally hundreds of insurgents, and destroyed about 80% of the city’s current known insurgent ammo caches and last but not least, they brought one of their pilots home safely. They also destroyed several IEDs and VBIEDs as they swept the city in a fierce rumble of vehicles and infantry supported by devastating apache attack helicopters.

Missing Pilot

In non related news, as referenced earlier by the BBC, no man eating badgers were spotted in Al Basrah tonight. It is claimed they were frightened away by a certain wreckless Saxon driver but no body knows for sure. Some expect they watched the whole thing from the mosque roof, and are still plotting to make their final move.
