Fine insurgent camera work... *User discretion advised*
My bro just got back from basic training (canadian army) where he got this video. All the people complaining about the accuracy of weapons and the length of firefights should take heed.

This one was just under 60 seconds.

Oh man oh man oh man. This one's "funny" too (no gore though, sorry) - (supposedly) marines getting blasted by an IED:
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2hfb9 ... ed_extreme
Here's another video showing the "fun" that ensues when a humvee and its passengers get blown up by an IED (no gore in this one either, however):
http://iraqiwarvideos.magnify.net/item/X8QVFXC4HBR55ZD2
Damn that was "fun". But hey, there's plenty more where that came from - the text says that's an American patrol getting blasted but it's really hard to tell. Still, there's people walking an getting blown to bits in it, it's got to be "fun":
http://iraqiwarvideos.magnify.net/item/SSXJG99S70W4WPHN
More IED vs. humvee "fun" here - there's got to be atleast one driver in there but probably a couple of passengers too, I doubt they walked out of that one:
http://iraqiwarvideos.magnify.net/item/DVYR6MDX73TSVN31
It's a damn shame these guys either fled the scene or were gunned down, because it would have been really "funny" to get some closeups of the US crew of this humvee after they were blown up (assuming you could find large enough bits of their body to film):
http://iraqiwarvideos.magnify.net/item/V283VPN56F2FWBBD
This is as close to gore as it gets, but hey it's "funny" seeing a camera man being shot right? I don't know who's doing the shooting here, but if the video in the first post in this thread is any indication I'm guessing it's some American soldier out there making damn sure the camera man won't try that again:
http://iraqiwarvideos.magnify.net/item/96HQK2XC57G8QBX0
("unfortunately" it looks like he's still alive after the ordeal, or atleast he's being slapped around like the others think he's alive)
...
I hope I've made my point clear. People getting shot and blown to bits in the real world is NOT something I'd consider "funny". I don't read arabic, but I suspect many of those videos above basically say "This is what happens to you American f#####s if you mess with us". Coming from EITHER side that shows incredibly poor taste. War's not "fun".
I'll be the first guy out there to congratulate a fellow player on a nice shot or a well-executed IED attack on the opposing team's assets in PR, but damn if I go praising someone for glamorizing the real war.

True. It's not fun or funny. But are you suggesting moral equivalence between the insurgents' and American troops' actions?L.O.Brow wrote: I hope I've made my point clear. i have multiple press headlines from iraq and afghanistan on my homepage. i check it everyday when i wake up and almost everyday it's a different suicide bombing on a different group of innocent people, the people in that video will behead someone just as fast for "collaborating" with americans as they will attack coalition troops themselves, they only understand violence. if no one ever fired another shot at coalition forces we would not shoot anyone and everyone could live. but these people are the closest thing to brainwashed as it gets and the clerics and imams got these guys convinced that allah will save them from a hailstorm of machine gun fire and i find it absolutely ridiculous. go right on driving up into the killzone of coalition machine guns, dumbass mother fuckers.

You need to consider something LO Brow. Do these people who have been brainwashed into believing what they believe get your full recognition as "people"?L.O.Brow wrote:People getting shot and blown to bits in the real world is NOT something I'd consider "funny".

How does a short video showing some insurgents and their heads blown off educate about weapon accuracy. This thread is fucking retarded, im no mod but a lock could be in place as i dont see this going anywhere.
Oh btw. if you want to see something even more funny, im sure there are vids of afgan and iraqi babies born with horrific deformalities, now what could be more fun to look at than that........

Going have to agree I find these kinds of videos distasteful, especially when a music soundtrack and text are added to them to glorify them. While I consider myself a hardcore gamer, im also in the British army and whilst not shocked by the scenes, obviously no-one should get "kicks" out of watching them. While this is a "reality" mod, I prefer to keep a distinguishable line between real life and what I play for enjoyment. I wouldn't mind reading how the many others in the various armed forces who post on this forum view this grey area....

Cameraman got shot in the back running away. Looked kinda like the truck hauled *** when it started to hit the fan, too. Two minutes of staring at people in masks with unnecessary background music, to the usual shaky camerawork and firecracking pops of weapons fire that you never see.
Combat cameraman is a oxymoron in that way. Never see anything worth watching the video for. Just one scared-*** mofo wasting film when he could have done just as good a job with a audio recorder for all he gets. Linkin Park wasn't cool for Youtube-ish videos 3 years ago, too. It's even more ridicilous in the context of the video.

No - and I absolutely do not wish to get into a moral argument about what actions some individual or community might consider civilized in a war (or time of peace) and what not. Suffice to say, war as a whole is not civilized and that goes for all sides involved.JP*wasteland.soldier wrote:True. It's not fun or funny. But are you suggesting moral equivalence between the insurgents' and American troops' actions?
The two things I wanted to highlight were:
1) Glorifying war footage with comments like "Come and get it m#####f######s!" shows extremely poor taste. That is something that belongs in RAW or ECW or whatever you call them.
2) Why would someone consider it "funny" to see REAL, LIVE people gunned down? More to the point, if that's supposedly funny why aren't these guys LOLling at videos where it's their sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, fathers and mothers being blown to bits? "Yeehaw, look at daddy fly! Man that was funny!".
Unfortunately I'm not the best person to argue this point; however, I can tell you that you do not want to go down that path. "Just doing what we're told" is the oldest excuse in the book and you know it applies to US troops just the same as it applied to German troops in the past or insurgents in the present. Soldiers on either side of a conflict are told they are defending something worthwhile and fighting the good fight. They are all given such support, training and rewards as is available to get them to go out there, do what's being asked of them and achieve their superiors' goals. As I mentioned earlier in this post, though, I have no interest in a moral argument on who's going about it the more correct way - war is simply the uncivilized outcome of a failure elsewhere.'[R-DEV wrote:Jaymz']You need to consider something LO Brow. Besides, I'm affraid this is one of those topics that would bring out the more authoritarian figures who are unable to form their own opinions but instead rely on an "unquestionable authority" which dictates their actions; the ones inclined to dichotomy, where there is only "us or them" or "right and wrong". Their inability to see the shades of grey would make any debate meaningless - and as noted, I'm not a very good debater in the first place.
