-I'm not too concerned about how they look, my issue is that the Engineer doesn't have them on most maps. I feel naked without my grapple... And there's so many tactical opportunities that are opened up by the implementation of grapples, I think they should be available on every map for engineers.

Engineers only receive grappling hooks on Mountain Maps. I *think* they are on Mestia, Seven Gates, and Hills of Hamyong. Might not be or be on more though.

Agreed.

I've always thought they should get them on Jabal... would be really useful for the dam area.

I'm not sure how often main infantry get them anyways, regardless of terrain. Personally, if I was head hancho of who gets what, MG and AT teams would get them before engineers would.

I was watching someone trough a grappling hook and it landed next to him. I thought it was kinda funny how the hook doubled in size after he threw it.

I'd like to see a map with a British carrier off shore, and huge cliffs near next to the beach. as soon as the map started harriers would lift off and attempt to destroy defensive emplacements atop the cliff, a few boats filled with british troops hit the shoreline and fire REALLY long grapples maybe use harpoon launcher model)
anyways harriers are pounding the top of the cliffs and the PLA is firing down on british troops scaling the cliffs. after 10min or so a merlin spawns and lifts squads to the top of the cliff. once the british reach the top 2 or 3 challengers spawn.
then it is a hardcore kick *** tank battle atop a tall cliff with harriers raining hell on the type 90s
not entirely realistic but hell it's a pretty fun 2 stage map.
grapples really add another dimension to the already 3D combat of BF2.

That would'nt be a pretty bad idea. Maybe something like "Tactician" A rifleman without ammo and instead of binocs a soflam.

Nah, I'd rather see the SpecOp beeing a limited kit which has the grabbling hook on some maps.

How often does the rope stickout? Only if you throw it in a retarded way.

I'm sure there's a reason for it being like it currently is, but if the DEVs could model a new one which lloks more fluid, then why not.

Anyone remember that thread where someone complained that the sparks were too big in PR, and that it ruined their gaming experience? This, my friends, is it.
