Commander push-tacks

Post by Ace42 »

At the moment a lot of squad leaders / commanders use move/order markers to show position of bits and bobs, such as enemy rallies, mines, weapons caches etc. It's ok, but a main in the backside if you want to give a squad leader a permanent marker to show where a rally point is, and he's (understandably) clicking it off so he can give move orders to his squad.

Would some sort of "pin" option on the commander's map be possible so that he can show objects of interest, such as bunkers, AA emplacements, etc? Ideally something he could label, like put a "pin" on the map that all squads (or just all SLs) could see with a name like "tanks camping" or "bunker will be built here after we take the next flag" or "all squads rendezvous here" or whatever.

Now, I am not sure if such a thing is possible, but if it is possible to A: extend the list of commander markers (just as they have been reduced in the game by removing artillery and spotted icons from the commander), and B: making them appear to everyone without "overriding" / "contradicting" the SL's active marker, then at least some sort of implementation should be feasible.

I think it would aid communication a fair bit...

This is a fantastic idea, but probably not plausible in BF2. I would expect it to look like a CP does (with a little circle or an X with some text above it in blue).

I second that idea.

Yeah it'd be awesome to have something like this. Really annoying when your trying to squad lead and wanna keep issuing move markers from cover to cover but want the main objective to be visible to the squad.

This is the best suggestion I've seen in a long time.
