Grappling hooks

Ive seen grappling hokkes used in maps wher no class has it.

How do you get those hooks? are they located on the map somwhere?

Engineer class on limited maps. Hit keyboard #9 aim it and fire it off. After use, you can retrieve it or any other G. Hooks you spot on that map once you've used yours.

My question is, why doesn't the grappling hook picture show up when scrolling through your inventory?

Because with Eng. I think 1-8 is taken by gear (With the new shovel) and 9 being parachute does not show anyway.

because you can have a 9. item but it is not used in Battlefield 2 and so they forgotten the code that it is visible

Since on the subject; Why cant i dismount an enemy G-hook? IRL its not that hard, either just throw the hook back over the wall or knife the rope.
Been annoying me some time.

Ehm, I think that you have to be an engineer. Any chance of the rope being destroyable with a knife, or is that hardcoded?
