[Map] Dawn [scrapped]

Russia Against Militia
Gamemod: Something like Insurgency, but with militia instead of Insurgents
70% Done

Russia will parachute at the map, Militia will have control of the whole area, the battle locations will be random(Like Insurgency) and there will be a lot of places for hidden weapon caches locations

Expect also, lots of caves

Militia will have 2 APC's, and some land vehicles/boats and lot's of fortified locations with AA guns and Mg's

Russia will be able to parachute at the whole map and make surprise atacks
Parachuters can only use the regular Kits
But there will be a land respaw with some boats
Land respaw will have TOW's to prevent APC's rape

Militia will only have one static respawn on the main village, wich will be also the vehicle's respaw
All other militia respawn points will be mapper placed Rally points, and there will be a lot of them on Strategic positions near were the Weapons cache should respaw

The map will be a nightmap, but with a Dawn theme, Being able to be played without the need of a nightvision, this will also alow mediun range firefights, there will be a lot of good sniper positions and i will hide some goodies for the Militia

Still looking for a proper name for the map, maybe GeZe could do the honnor of naming it :wink:

Red Dawn sounds pretty good, symbolises the Introduction of the Russians (Red for their Communist history)

That is absolutely magnificent!

Perhaps more water ways, to make RIB Patrols a fresh, new element to the game?

Also, this central spawn. Is it going to be a big military base, with bunkers and perimiter wire? which the Militia could throw themselves at, aswell as defend the caches? I think it'd be best if it was not cappable though.

Actualy the main village will look more like a vilage where the Militia is currently using for it's troops and will not be captured, but it will be heavy defended and there will be 1 spawn point on each shack from that vilage (you chose to respaw on the Vilage and random respaw on one shack from the vilage)

And the Rally points will simbolize patrols arround the region

There will be some Military outposts for Militia, heavy defended, but once they lost the RP from the barraks of that outpost, they will need to bring reinforcements from other places (but they got vehicles to do so)

Also some caves with Rp's near the outposts, and some Rp's on other vilages houses to simulate reinforcements

Russia will need to destroy the rallypoints to be able to attack the Weapons caches

About Boat Patrols, there will not be more water, but there will be 2 positions where you need either to parachute at, or go with a boat

One will be the Cargo Ship, the other will be a cave on the river wich will have 2 entrances, one on trough a hole on the top of the cave, and one with boat trough water

This looks really fun. One question, is the plane that the Russians will be able to spawn in moving or is it stationary?

The plane will be stationary, but i added some smoke effects to simulate movement, and also, you cannot see it from the land, with some Ambient sounds you will not know if it is moving or not =P

I Updated the map a lot since that post, changed the Overgrow to suit more MilitiaXRussia(this map was planned to be on a rainforest before, but i changed it a lot)

Also the Watercave will be one of the best parts of the map =P

Im without internet on my house for a few days, I will post more screens when i get back my internet conection

What does Khar'kovskiy means?

Really looking forward to how the plane is.


Maybe talk to rhino about some triggerables, stick and opening and closing gate on the *** of the jet, maybe add some protection from people who decide to lob RPG's at it, and it would be just a cool little visual feature. Especially if say you made it so everyone had to stand in the back of the jet for a little bit when they spawn in... Just imagine 30 russians sitting in a c130 waiting for the gate to open at the beggining of the match, then all jumping together.


I dont know how the coding works, but maybe instead of having it open and close, you could have it just be a 1 use delayed triggerable, or one that has a very slow animation so you get a good group of people jumping at once.

Use the hide flag from minimap option on the airplane flag. As otherwise the militia will use it to see on the 3d map where it is and pound it with fire.

How high up will the plane be? I hope its really high up so that you can land anywere on the map! :) Can't wait for this russian faction!

It is high enough to be able to get anywhere =)

Also, there will be a secret entrance to the water cave if you land on the top of it :-)


Also, tehre will be "no flag" on the Airplane, just the respawn point, the flag will be at land (for requesting kit purposes, since if you request a sniper for example, you wont be able to parachute)

Only conventional classes will be able to parachute (Spec Ops, Rifleman, Medic, Enginner) the rest of the team, will need to use the boats, at the Russia Main flag (will have 2 tow's and 1 AA gun to avoid enemy camping it)

I got lot's of nice things to show but since im without internet at house right now i cant show =/

Sounds great!

One thing to keep in mind though, make sure you keep it a "dawn" map, and not a night map. I don't want to have to use nightvision. -thanks

What happened to "dawn" ? :/ it looks like night to me now. (and believe me, no one likes playing night maps)

or maybe it's my moniter... did you change any light settings?

What does Khar'kovskiy means?
It's a town in Chechnya. It is near a large river system near some mountains, and would fit well into this scenario.

It is still dawn, the view Ingame is still the same, i just make the terrain and over/undergrow a little darker

It was not fitting the SKy, but that is a minnor issue, can be changed in like 1 minute (could also make a "Day" version)

On my monitor, the map is very bright, much more than Bi_Ming


The major problem with Bi_Ming right know is people who dont know about the crash if it is the first map you join

Also there is no need for nightvision on my map, you can still see cleary

doesnt look very dawnish though...seems like night to me...
