Medic bags

Post by <TNT>GRENADIER »

I've noticed some issues with the new healing system.

Healing someone else:

About 1/4-1/2 the time, I get right next to or in front of the player, hold out the bag and hold down or press fire and nothing happens.

Healing myself:

About 80% of the time, I hold out the bag and look straight down. I've tried it standing and prone. I hold down or push the fire button and it doesn't heal.

I tried a search and checked the wiki but didn't find anything? Am I the only one having this issue because I can't read something somewhere?

I've experienced the exactly same problems.

Healing others:

Always crouch or lay down when you heal other players. Get near enough them (sometimes you need to get "inside" your comrades)

NEVER get in front of them!!!! You will block their line of view and fire.

I also hate those guys who are wounded and cry out for a medic. You get there from behind and start to heal them.
1 second later they turn around to look...i don't know - perhaps they want to see who is healing them.
AND UNTIL YOU HAVE FINISHED THE HEALING PROCESS THEY WILL LOOK STRAIGHT AT YOUR FACE STICKING THEIR WEAPONS IN YOUR NOSE. They won't look if perhaps an enemy will appear left or right or even behind.
I sometimes really would like to shoot them in the face just to make them looking elsewhere.

Healing yourself:

Take bag. Stand up. Look straight down. Press fire button. Wait - it will need one second or two until the "healing sound" and the cross on the screen will appear. Just be patient. If you aren't and release the fire button and press it again it will take 1 or 2 seconds again to let the healing start.
You can even run around healing yourself.

There is definitely something homoerotic watching medics at work. ;)

Best position; the wounded soldier prone on his belly. Medic, prone on his belly, behind the soldier and between his legs pushing his head and medic pack against his butt.

Try it, I wish I was joking. :p

"Medics always there to heal you arse! (Literally)"

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I don't want to see your face when I'm medding you. Cover both of us. If you're wounded, COME TO THE MEDIC: chances are we're busy fixing casualties (those of us that do our jobs right).
As to the self heal: keep trying: stand up, look down & click that button until you hear the bandaging sound then KEEP THAT BUTTON PRESSED (same goes for medding a casualty).
If in doubt: READ MY SIG (the bottom part ;) )

Never thought of it in homoerotic terms before. I guess none of us manly men like some other guy sneaking up "behind" us.

Thanks for the advice. I'll see if it gets better. :-P

always be in same stance (standing crouch or prone) as your patient.

the healing yourself while looking straight down is sort of a bug anyways so there is no tech support for using it :P

I thought with the new .6 version that the medic couldn't heal his self so I just gave up on healing myself and my buddies that I play with think the same. Thanks for the advice. I guess I thought that cause I remember a time when they were talking of the medic not being able to heal themselves.

...medics shouldn't be able to heal themselves, and the "healing your feet" thing is an "exploit", that I guess fits in this "bug" thread. :P

I was told that was removed though. The "jumping" and "pointing at your feet", healing.

Medics got more bandages (3), and you can still heal yourself if you get in the back of certain vehicles.

Actually, no Natala, it started as a bug, but it turned into a feature along the way. Or atleast, that's what I heard. You can still heal yourself, but now you're pretty vulnerable while doing it.

I don't think it is a feature, and would like a Dev's official ruling on this.

When I mentioned the "twist, jump, cha cha cha" all heal dance last, the dev I spoke to was surprised to hear it was still possible. As far as I have been told, the "heal your feet" action should have been removed since discovered in "Beta".
