actaully stealth isn't picked up by those old radar, its picked up by infared and actually is more of device to mask individual planes. Its not until a group is close and its ready to drop that the actual amount of the stealth planes in the sky is known. With the soon introduction of newer stealth fighters (not the current stealth fighter thing) this would mask who's bombing and who's escourting. They show up as more of a blob and don't give exact radar signatures like older planes making it hard to distinguish between a stealth "fighter" and stealth "bomber." Stealth was never ment to to be completely invisible, just make it harder on the enemy to identify aircraft and numbers, thats what it does.
The F-117 stealth fighter is actually a bomber disignated as a fighter because the top airforce pilots wouldn't fly something called a B-117. The Lockheed thats actually in BF2 is going to be the stealth fighter most likely chosen by the US.
With that said I'm glad that the UK is on our side.
Bombers just wouldn't work in BF2. The maps are to small to effectively level bomb. You guys are looking at the wrong game for that kind of stuff, when Armed Assualt comes out (the next "Operation Flashpoint" kinda...) that stuff will be possible with the giant maps, or something like WWII Online: Battleground Europe (http://www.wwiionline.com)

Yes, there are, rest assured.ECale3 wrote:Is there new american weapons coming too?
That was the MH-53J Pave Low III used by USAF special operations. That may be a possibility along with the Marine CH-53E, which is a similar airframe (the CH-53E is a newer airframe and has 3 engines instead of 2).Heydude235 wrote:What is that one helacopter from desert combat? It was like a transport copter. I would like to sse that put into the game.
Zodiac, the CH-46 Sea Knight aka "Frog" is such a deathtrap that anyone who had been a surviv- er, passenger in one would probably be too traumatized to even get close to an in-game representation of it.
But seriously, it would be easier for us to model a CH-53 for the USMC which we can slightly remodel and reskin for a USAF Pave Low and have two vehicles. The Marines also use the UH-1N as a utility helicopter and we'd like to replace the alleged HH-60H they have in BF2 with it.

A Huey or Stallion would be MUCH better for the Marines. From what I've been told (and read, seen blah blah) the "Hawk" is only used by the Navy for ship to ship stuff, and dock to ship... also as an anti-sub chopper. Combat choppers (ie the ones that take the troops into the hot zone) tend to be the Stallion or Sea Knights, both of which are pretty god damn old. I think the Stallion fleet are still using the original airframes from the ones made during 'Nam and around that time period. The newer Huey's (think they're still made from new actually, in small numbers mind) would be better, less of a massive and sluggish (manouverability wise) target to aim for, plus huey's are just so damn cool! I love the "thud thud" sound of the 2 blade ones! *has flashbacks to Apocalypse Now*

Well if it's bombers then they shouldn't be player controled, unless it's a strike aircraft like an F-18 or F-15 where you have someone on the ground "painting" the target for the GBU's. If it's a bomber bomer like a B-52 then they should be VERY high in the sky (hense their nickname Stratofortress) and used for something more along the lines of carpet bombing. Maybe each side could have a similar bombing run? Have it so you can only use it say 3 times each round, or it takes aboue 5 or so mins to "recharge". It'd be more realistic than letting players fly them as they'd be far too big for the maps to even taxi on most runways in the game, never mind get airbourne or land, or even fly around.
Tanks should be in maps, but not all. Urban stuff should be more light/medium armour intensive to fight along side the infantry (which is their job), with maybe one MBT per team on the larger maps. Tanks should be more common on the larger open terrain maps, like say a desert with rolling hills and the like, with a few jets in order to counter them. In short, make maps for specific combat styles. Have infantry based ones, armour based ones, aircraft based ones and mixed ones. This way most people will be happy because they'll be able to play in their prefered role without having to nerf or remove things all together.

IRT Mad Max
a B-52 is way way to big for this game, i dont understand why anyone really wants it other than sex appeal so to speak, its to big for maps and would probably lag everyone out, player controlled or static
IRT heydued
i doubt the youll be able to walk in the merlin the only time iv seen a vehicle be a spawn point was in DC with the C-130
the C-130 is IMHO the biggest aircraft that should be added into this game anything else is over kill

The upgraded Seahawks (SH-60B and HH-60H) are not just used for vertical replenishment, CSAR and ASW (SH-60B/F and newer SH-60R) anymore. Since the early 1990s they can also perform surface and ground attack missions with Penguin (SH-60B / SH-60R) and Hellfire (all) missiles as well as various guns.Mad Max wrote:A Huey or Stallion would be MUCH better for the Marines. The HH-60H Seahawk is the CSAR (or "strike rescue") and special warfare support variant and is used to deliver SEALs into assault zones, as well as provide overwatch (through door guns and sniper teams) in VBSS and GOPLAT takedowns.

The MH-60S Knighthawk due to phase out the HH-60H will be able to carry the external stores support system "stub wings" for increased ordnance payload.

A former Marine friend of PRs, Aggie's Revenge, said that on his last "float" the Sea Knights he rode in had patches over bulletholes from Vietnam and that if they weren't leaking hydraulic fluid, to not get in them, since that meant they were out of it.Mad Max wrote:Combat choppers (ie the ones that take the troops into the hot zone) tend to be the Stallion or Sea Knights, both of which are pretty god damn old.
We are definitely looking into making the passenger compartment of the Merlin and other large helicopters "seatless," with one position controlling the ramp, so that more than just a few people can ride along.Heydude235 wrote:That merlin hc3 is great. Dunno about even a C-130, Beckwith. Properly in scale, it would be fucking huge and probably too big for the game. For an example, this is how big a full scale CH-53 is compared to people and light vehicles in the game:Beckwith wrote:the C-130 is IMHO the biggest aircraft that should be added into this game anything else is over kill

Here is a picture of a C-130, three CH-53Es and 4 HMMWVs.
