these things are crucial to gameplay. They should be much easier to make, no matter how close to a flag.

I've played in a lot of squads where sl is like, "ok guysth, justh spawn on mee now! "
when it should be more like
"aight men, everyone meet at the rally point and then we'll do a concentrated attack on the left flank of the enemy!"

Removing the SL spawn will break the teamplay coz then if a LM gets shot he will have to walk from rally/main and believe me, not many ppl would wait for him.

a RP can be 100m away from a flag , thats 10 seconds of running (or about) so when putting ur point across remember that the hole "we have to walk miles" dose not count as a valid argument because if u r in a good squad with a good squad leader u will have a RP which = no running for ages .

so dont say "we will have to walk miles" , because if u r in a good team u wont.

That's a pretty narrow minded view there chief. Obviously it's not a positive step in everyone's view.

Gasp(!), not everyone is jumping on the band wagon! Oh noes!

I suggest not assuming that everyone has the same view point as a few guys on this forum who post a lot.

Let's be realistic(pun intended) here folks:

1. The community is divided,

2. The devs will decide on what they believe is in the best interest of their mod, and the community will adapt.

The developers of this free mod, are not obligated to make any decision based on any post or poll the community comes up with.

3. The devs are keeping tight lips on this subject, usually we get a or a definitive no.

I bet it's being discussed as we type.

Ive read that APC spawning will be removed in v.7. So make that 3 options

I just think there is to less tranport for the big maps to remove to mutch spawns. I say give jeeps (vodnik,hummer etc.) a way WAY shorter spawntime or place more.
Also on the maps like the big desert maps there is just not enough places to give rally points a good hidden position.

Squadleader spawn gives an extra boost for squadmembers to keep him alive. He is the hart on the group and should not only stay back a little to have an overview of the situation and be safer. But he also needs his back to be covered (not litterally his 9 but his *** in general).
The squad leader spawn just gives an extra reason for members to cover his *** more.
BUT i do agree with a lot of arguments on why to remove squadleader spawn. SO i say
I say : the system should be left but altered.
(maybe only make it so that you can spawn on the squad leader when everyone is down but the squadleader).
But like i said on not whell thought out idea.

One more point I'd like to make about the positive effect of SL spawning:

1. From my experience on our [DVB] server where, on most nights, I lead a squad made up of entirely non [DVB] players, it is easier to keep the squad consolidated(and therefore much easier to manage) and on task---when you can spawn on the SL---then it is when the group has to start over from the Main Base.

Now before you bash my point down, let me say this: I think Starting over from the MB is a good consequence overall. Getting knocked back to your Main Base should be a demoralizing/frustrating/wtfdowedonow kind of event. And I think it is now.

However, if you take away one more way to keep things under control, you give the "omg our squad got HAT'd AGAIN and we have to start back at MB AGAIN" a much higher ratio of happening per game.

From my experience, this happens 3-5 times per full game with an experienced squad, depending on the map. With a newbie squad, double that rate. Without Spawn on SL, double that rate again no matter what the experience of the squad!

What does this give us?

1. Less room for error. Making one mistake by one squad can be the deciding factor in a whole game, as the enemy will be able to roll you that much easier.

2. Faster games. Why? Because that one mistake keeps you pinned at your MB while the other team consolidates and bleeds you out. "Use your APCs and flank them!", you say. They see and hear you coming from their new positions, especially on the new SUPER SIZED maps. Which are great, btw.

Oh, you have a bunker deployed? Great! Except within 2 weeks all of the regular players will know where all of the best places on each map are to drop the damn things and they will get camped/HAT'd to hell and back. And if you don't use the best places, they will be out in the open and will get shot anyway.

3. fstropez!1!! No seriously. k but in all seriousness this gives us more whining about base camping on the forums. Mmm, whine.

Beyond all of that, I think this build has a very nice ebb and flow to its battles. When things go wrong you aren't completely up a creek, but you can definately tell the momentum has shifted. This is one mark of a good game, IMO.

I voted "don't remove it". In my opinion, the squad leader is a resource manager at the squad level. A good squad leader should not be the point-man kicking in a door and entering a heavily fortified bunker. A squad leader places himself where he can see an objective, makes decisions on the best tactic of accomplishing the objective, and then organizing his squad to make it happen. Personally, I spend more time watching the flow of other squads on a map to make the best decision in regards to our next move, updating my squad on the unfoldings of the battlefield, and making kit-change requests as necessary.

If it is for realism that you guys think a soldier can't "magically" spawn on a squad leader, then the same goes for rally points, APCs, and commander supply trucks. Soldiers don't "magically" spawn on those either in real life.

If you want to remove someone's ability to spawn on a squad leader, then leave the confines of your bunker and come hunting for me (just as you would a rally point). The only difference between me and that rally point is - I'll shoot you in the eye.

I voted yes,because with new commander features there are lots of places to spawn(commander truck,bunkers+good old rallypoints).

However i am playing with same superb squadleader named Ante since 3 weeks,thus having no difficulties teamplaywise...

Maybe a limit on SL spawn might be better,for example only one man can spawn on SL every 15 seconds.

Wow, poll is split down the middle as of this post. I voted yes and I have been a long time supporter of keeping the SL spawn but now with all of the spawn points it needs to go. I think rally points need to drop the required SL+3 people to SL+2 people to set, basically half the squad needs to be in one spot.

YES! But it needs modifications to the current RP system. There should be a possibility of an not so easy destroyable RP nearby a friendly CP. Maybe with a time limit or some more restrictions?

And it will change the gameplay for SLs. No more Rambo-styled attack run for a flag and then the squad spawns on you.

Oh great. Now we have TWO threads on the same heated topic.

It seems to me that the only people who want to leave the SL spawn are those who want to spawn in and kill as quickly as possible. That has nothing to do with strategy.

"OMG I died! I have to wait a whole 30 seconds! F***! SQUAD LEADER DON'T DIE.... DONT DIE!!111 Whew! I spawned in. Pew pew pew pew! pwnt! hahaha noobs!"

This wasn't intended to be a thread for discussion, merely a place to get some figures.

While were giving short personal views , I don't think the transport thing is an issue because the developers will alter the gameplay accordingly. I'd say the best way would be to increase the number of of roaders and maybe have them spawning near bunkers and firebases too (not sure if they do already).

Let's try to keep this in the right thread though.
