I think the "smoke rounds" you are referring to are WP rounds. WP stands for White Phosphorus. Its nickname is Willie Pete. It is a powder that is activated my moisture and will burn right thru a human being. The only way to stop it is to stop cut off its air supply. It was and still is used for marking targets, but certainly not for masking troop movements. I’m still not certain that it’s currently fired from tanks. Why would today’s tanks need to mark a target when it can kill most anything in one or two rounds? Run thru a cloud of it if you want to, you will come out on the other side without skin
Commanders Arty would be a much better and realistic choice for deploying smoke on a large scale in game.
