As we know, firefights are very chaotic and intense. And i think dust should be thrown up and linger when bullets hit the dirt ground or a dusty old wall.
Can this be done? A la FEAR, or to some extent of that.
BTW the hotfix is awesome, and I think dust with the sounds would be amaazing!

If you want your game one frame per every 2 to 3 seconds that is doable.
We played a bit with smokeeffects early on with PRMM.01 (internal releases actually) and had some seriously beautiful smoke. (smoke, dust same thing different name
)
The major drawback is that your framrate will plummet! It WILL drop into the singledigit range unless you have a monster machine.

DUDE!!! I was just going to post the same thing.
I was just going to make a new topic. I had updated the effects made them slightly more realistic and even better looking. I also got around to adding a blood hit effect. As far as framerates go, it didn't effect them that much. If your running on high already, it wont be a big deal. Medium was the only trouble spot, but it was still far from unplayable. Low however will cause problems as it disables a lot of the smoke, giving players on low an advantage. That's probably the thing that screw this mod over. Oh well, it was great fun to make and I really enjoy playing this with bots.

Note: These are old pictures, the latest version is nowhere near as overdone.

Smoke DOES affect framerate.
Whenever I look at a smoke or dustcloud my framerate takes an expresselevator to the basement. Especially in those first early internal releases of .01.
How much of a hit it makes on anyones PC is very different I guess, but it does affect your framerate. And if you have a PC that is barely making the minimum requirement I would guess the drop would be severe.
I am not suggesting we make the mod to dit on a machine with the lowest specs but neither am I going to ask for all the stops being pulled out either.
