As I pointed out, conceding flags hand-over-fist isn't always an option. The example that sticks in my mind is EJOD desert, with two tanks hull down NE of gas station, and an APC SW of west city. Bunker next to the fenced-off area and the building near to the gas-station.

There were no spawn points other than the bunker and main.

What do you do in that situation? Outflank? Tried it, got sniped by an APC as soon as I was in visible range of them. The edge of the map made it impossible to sneak around the outside. There were marksman in the hills to the right, and as soon as someone left cover of the gas station building / dunes, the tanks cut them down instantly. AFAIK our tanks got totalled the second they got into visible range of the camped enemy tanks (or were not spawned), and god knows what the H-ATs were doing, but it wasn't returning fire on enemy armour. Chances are they were getting taken out by coax fire at range the second the were in a position to fire.

I tried every trick in my play book, from smoking my way out of base (tanks and APC both shot us through the smoke), to a mad dash in a humvee (shot in the middle of the desert before I could see the APC), to using a sniper kit to stay at max range and see if I could spot camping HATs and sneak up on the APC when the turrent wasn't facing me. Nothing whatsoever worked. All my team could do was stay under cover while tickets bled and their marksman, snipers and riflemen picked us off with scopes the second someone tried to stick their head around a corner.

If we "spawned somewhere else" (the main base), the infantry that was camping the building between the ruins and the gas station would've walked into the garage, and we'd've been camped on the main. Every time I tried spawning at main and getting to the flanks at the far south of the map, all that happened is that I'd advance to roughly parallel to the gas-station, and get cut down.

Sometimes if you lose the good ground the map is lost...holding out at gas station is just plain idiotic and no one is suggesting that. Retreating into defensless territory serves no purpose. At times retreat works...others it doesn't. EJOD is not an armor map, if you get pushed back to Gas station then your team just had a bad round...infantry and armor wise.

This is just getting silly, you throw out situations where retreating didn't work and expect that to prove a point. We were talking about big armor maps al la Kashan and al Kufra. Now you bring up an infantry map and complain about getting your *** kicked...thats just what happened. In EJOD tanks die to infantry probably more so than they die from other tanks. Its easy to stay away from them too...there are so many hiding places. Now you are just complaining about losing...sorry bub it happens. Feel like is just getting pointless man, people are throwing out very VIABLE suggestions to your issues that actually WORK in-game and then you throw out some other problem you have where you lost and act like their is a problem with the game. Seems like you are only interested in your perspective and are closed to any other point of view. Learn to see the forest through the trees.

Um... it's about the only useful point I can take out of the thread. All 4 pages of the thread can be made useful with one sentence.

Thread isn't going anywhere... one person responding over and over and not really making any point with the response.
