I was wondering could there ever be another game mode where the US or UK against insurgents but the objectives switched around?
Ie:
The Insurgents have to destroy Oil platforms ( the models are used already in the likes of kashan and kuffrah etc ) and the US or UK have to defend them?
Kind of like the situation in Iraq where they set fire to the oilfields for whatever reason to stop the US using them or whatever i dont know the RL the details.
I'm no dev so i wouldn't know if its even possible.., just a suggestion like the forum says

It would be cool.
The US/UK forces could patrol, maybe give them 10 ammo caches they could destroy for 10 points each so it's not totally boring for the defenders.
And as the windshield melts
My tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.
Yeh that sounds good.., although i didnt really think too long on the details just the concept of adding to the already exhisting insurgency mode.
I mean when theres details, it might include both sides capping certain flags for strategic advantage or w/e similar to Albasrah. Obviously the oil derricks would be clearly visible ( unlike current mode ) but maybe have just one in a group thats an altered model so its destructable only by C4 or w/e which cuts off the area its in, so you still have to search for an objective.
The ammo dumps you mentioned maybe could supply only C4 for the needs of blowing the oil derrick or maybe act as an additional spawn point for insurgents.., i duno just throwing a few ideas around, considerably different to actually executing the gameplay in code wether its even possible i havent a jar.

It would be extremely easy to defend against insurgents
Yes, it would.
If and only if the defenders had the discipline to remain in place and wait.
Since that won't happen the ammo caches serve the dual purpose of getting the defenders out of the objective and giving them something to do.

Would it be possible to have a system where the Allied forces hold an entire city, and the insurgents spawn from destructible houses inside the city? The Allies try to destroy the houses, but they lose points if they destroy houses that aren't insurgent bases. You would only be able to tell which are which by some distinguishing mark inside the house. Then, the insurgents try to kill a certain number of troops. If they kill x amount, they win. The number they have to kill would be like 50-100, not 200+ like in a normal, ticket based game. This would simulate public support declining and the US or UK leader pulling out troops due to attrition.
JoetheMoe: actually a shotgun made for killing people can kill u from 30 to 50 yards
MadCat2400: As opposed to a shotgun made for baking cakes?

I see your point but i guess that would depend on the map loadout and the layout of the terrain etc. As for vehicle loadouts maybe landrovers/ hummers only? to simulate small task forces going to capture and defend and secure areas of resistance/tactical advantage?

ummm...insurgents dont set fires to oil wells.
that was the cowardly iraqi army in 1991 when they were retreating from kuwait.
i think its an idea, but not really one that i'd like to play.
