Cheeseman, does this mean maybe you're willing to do the LAVIII turret? ;)
I might as well need to if we want to have a LAV-III in PR for the Canadians.

Anyhow hers the small update, don't expect another one very soon, cause I can't be going around showing off everything... you guys might get bord. :smile:

Added the exhaust thingy on the right side, haven't yet angled it down though.
I went From 4770 polygons to 3773. Not bad ay?

Is the US Army going to get this vehicle too, or is it only for the Canadians? It just seems odd that the main manufacturer of MRAPs wouldn't have any in-game, while a faction that only has 5 in reality would.

He states that this is for the US several times. It will only be used in Canadian maps until I get my RG-31 Nyala done, which is progressing again btw.

It'd be interesting to see the 6x6 variant of this on the odd Canadian map. But obviously not on all of them as the main form of transport due to the fact that we only have about 5-10 of them.

Nice model

In your earlier screenshot 3d studio is counting polys which is not correct option for game models. Make sure its counting tris instead.

You can change it from customize > viewport configuration > statistics > triange count (thick).

Polygons are always turned into triangles when you export your model into a game engine.

WOW, 9280 Tris.

Maybe this thing should be modelled by tank/APC guidelines given the size of it?

Good news, I used Polygon Cruncher plug-in for 3DS Max to decrease some polygons on the model and I've managed to decrease the Tris number from 10044 to 5929. :p

Image
As you can see I've basically decreased the detail on the wheels and shafts.

I'll be doing more tweaks to bring the number down to at least 5100, so I might even make new low poly wheels instead. But there doesn't seem to be much of a demand for a Cougar right now, so won’t be spending too much time on it, I’ll probably move into modeling the Stryker/LAV-III tonight.

Will then the race is on. :smile:
I can probably make one in a week, so I say whoever releases first or makes a better looking model gets the spot. Although I'd feel bad for Snake_Doctor if he really has payed someone to model the LAV-III for him, cause he would have wasted all that money on nothing.

Sounds good, I believe there are a bunch of LAV III references in the Canadian Forces Mod Project section. If you need anymore, PM me.

I have to talk to snake doc about the LAV III because right now I don't know whats going on with it etc.

Here are some reference pictures though:

http://rapidshare.com/files/47465575/LAV_III.rar.html

and polycounts:

LoD0 = 6000 polygons
LoD1 = 2400 polygons
LoD2 = 900 polygons
LoD3 = 120 polygons
Wreck LoD0 = 1200 polygons
Wreck LoD1 = 120

Thanks for the info Fox, but the model might have to wait a few days, cause I've encountered a computer problem and need to use my warranty to get it repaired. I might need to install 3DS Max on another computer until it gets fixed, but other than that what was that website which had a list of all Battlefield 2 polygon guidelines? I remember you or someone else mentioned it on the forums.
