When I use the AK-47 it does give you the feeling that you're holding the balls of the person your aiming at in the the palm of your hand :) I have'nt tried the AK-101, but why was that rifle replaced?

Not yet, it's still there as temporary Mec grenadier weapon - but it will be replaced by a G3A3+Scope+UGL in 0.7

Edit: Also still present as insurgent Officer Kit weapon - with nade launcher

The russians deny that the AK is inspired by the Stg./Mp 44?

Here a look at the Stg.

And here an AK

They do look quite alike.

But w/e, The AK [Awtomat Kalaschnikowa] is supposed to be an assault rifle, having high firepower with only medium accuracy, which also works with the russian army-doctrine,as said before.

Now this is second time I see some1 typing Awtomat Kalashnikowa.
It's Russian/Soviet weapon, not Polish one. Therfore it's Avtomat Kalashnikova :D .

And to the StG rip-off - just because the rifle looks similar doesn't mean it's same.
Sure, Kalashnikov could be inspired by StG-44's design, but the internal mechanism is different (StG-44 uses tilting bolt, while AK uses rotating bolt).

Here's another rifle that looks like AK.
Image
It's Samopal vzor 58 (Sub-machinegun model 58 ) or Sa 58 for short. Ofter refered to as "Czech AK".
But again, it uses totally different mechanism.

Type 58

They do look very alike.
externally

But internally they are completely different so do not judge women and weapons only by their looks.
;)

edit :
Hey Deadfast you beat me in posting it !

BTW: Type 58 is maybe even better weapon then AK47 (Is it neighbor-national pride speaking now?)

Bob, someone mentioned that there is some "new" weapons that are just as (or more) reliable, and easier to maintain than the AK-47 -- is this true, and if so, what is it (are they)?

Yes but his son Victor is working in the same weapon constructing business (just like Evgeni Dragunov's son, Alexi).

I've read an interview with him in yesterday's newspaper ( they took an interview with Kalashnikov as AK has it's 60th birthday this month ) and he said that he's still working .

Yeah--the front sight post and rear leaf sight. Other than that, they don't look anything alike.

I also think that the kind of trigger, magazine and general structure are quite similar, only that the outside of the AK is smoother.

They can deny all they want, it is clear that the idea as well as the general structure was inspired by the Stg and also party by some american weapons (e.g. M1 Garand).
What differs from the Stg is the lockig system.
I'm not trying to say that he has blatantly stolen everything, but his claims that he thought all this out by himself is just as wrong.
