Move Forward toggle like in Oblivion (or "Cruise Control" button)

Post by blud »

I honestly can't remember if I suggested this before, and I can't find the post if I did, but,

My suggestion is a toggle on walk key like in the game Oblivion. So, when you have to walk a far way, you just press the key and let go, and your character will keep walking. You would press it again to stop the walking.

The same key would be used as like a "cruise control" for tanks and vehicles.

The huge distances that are now in PR is what makes me come up with this suggestion. This would help people with sore middle fingers on Kashan.

I just keep walking and hit a chat key. It keeps you moving but only in a straight line.

I can almost guarantee that the BF2- engine doesn't support this...

We have some kind of semi-workaround for this: Open any chat while moving, you will move on in the same direction without having to press a button and you can still look around.

to clarify, hold w, then press j, k, or l, and release.

You know what was awesome, Xfire had this bug where you opened an xfire window while walking forward, then closed the xfire window, and it would keep making you go forward and you could still shoot and stuff. the moment you pressed the forward button again you would stop.

it was like the 'chat' feature but even better!

but now xfire has patched this bug and it sux :(

Not a bad idea. With really huge maps like Kashan, especially, this could come in useful. (unless you are fully capable while pressing a chat key, which you probably won't be)

Because this would be WAY better than the hack job of hitting J. For example, you could hit shift (run) when doing this and you'd sprint. And basically it would be all-around not retarded like hitting J is.
