Dead cows and IED's

Post by nicoX »

Engineers placing explosives is easily seen on a road. So I wonder if the explosivs can be tweaked to not being visible when placed under something.
By this it would get much more funnier and strategic being an engineer.

Just imagine dead cows and dogs on the roads :!:

Wouldn't that spice up the reality and atmosphere.

Your'e not taking me serious now when I'm mentioning cows are you? :smile:

How would that be funny?...

Not really... Plus by the fact making new models is hard to do...

I have been experiementing with some things that facilitate concealment of IED's and mines.... It map specific to later releases of some of my own maps -if I ever get them completed and approved by the DEV team. :)

In the meantime, there are some creative ways to facilitate a well placed IED that I am sure the community can help out with..

Cheers,

Its routine for insurgents to hide IED's in dead animals, especially dogs, cows, and water buffalo, as that's the only animals they have over there in quantity. If we ever come up on a dead animal on patrol we call EOD and they come to check it out, usually blowing the carcase in place.

yeah, unfortunatley the present PR releases have little places to hide mines... I often have to use Katarns carcass -after routinely killing him time after time- as a hiding spot for mines... lol!

A dead dog or cow really wouldn't work for hiding IEDs. Mainly because it's a lot harder to hide the carcasses of such animals than it is to hide the current model. And if your thinking of placing static carcasses on the map so as to confuse the enemy, that wouldn't work either, because the carcass is still very noticeable which means that players will learn their positions and know when there is a trap or not. Randomly generated dead animals would be the answer but it's just not worth it.

The carcasses was a simile. There is other ways of hiding explosives. Digging a hole next to the road or putting it to a hole in the road.

You mean the same cow static over and over again would not fool anyone? lol.... i thinking more 'terrainish' changes

Funny how? You're in a team and your SL want to set up an ambush, (rarely happens tough) he orderes the engineer to place out explosives and the team waits for an full APC to show up. The IED goes out, enemy survivors jump out of the APC and full battle is on!

And think about the gameplay IED's would improve, moving with tanks and APC would be much more intensive for the drivers knowing he could be taken out with a bad road pick and the way you would get cracked hitting an IED.

A few more of the current rocks on the road to hide mines/IEDs in would do the job, too.

Just change the models.

IED = a dead cow
C4 = a dead dog
Mine = a water buffalow

Problem solved. Though people would grow suspicious of the large, bloated, dead cow conspicously placed in the middle of the intersection. ;-)

A less obvious model or other means of hidding the explosives and mines would be a nice little addtion.

7 Gates has some really good choke points on the road to temple. Killed two APC's in a matter of minutes by placing a mine on the road at one of the archways, and a C4 in the grass beside it. First APC doesn't see the mine BOOM!, next APC has to drive through the grass to get around scrap metal, click BOOM! Rare that I can pull this off regularily. :-)

Put bombs on cars, stay hidden, and let a civvie drive them. When the civvie tells you to blow it up, blow it up. Bingo.

LOL

Commander "Did one of you guys go shopping?"
Gunner "No, why?"
Commander "Well we have a cow, a pig and three chickens attached to the back of the tank!"

By now, most people have figured out that civs driving a vehicle are fair game ;)

Hide in plan sight?

Post by thepalerider »

Sorry this may have been said before but, wouldn't it be easer to just change the mine and ied models to the same model as the rocks you see all over the ground or just remove the model altogether so it's only seen as red skull and cross bones to the team placing them?

It shouldn't be that easy and doll. Besides insurgent shouldn't just always have IED's in their backpack. An IED isn't a military creation. More like civilians making them or having caches where insurgents can go to pick them up.

What is stronger a C4 or an IED?
Although an IED is usually homemade so there shouldn't be any standards.
