Can the co-pilot?
I know the co-pilot can move the hatch up and down in the merlin but would it be possible to make them control a passenger seat position? Say a person is in F3 and the co-pilot moves his seat up and down would it be possible? I'm asking because i think i have an idea to get past engine limitations on some hard coding aspects. Or is it hard coded too?

To answer your question, yes, it is possible. However you can not change animations, etc, so it would be a guy in a sitting position sliding down an invisible rope and being able to shoot his gun at the same time.
The Dev team has enough back log on other, more important things. There are very few active coders on the team and we neither have the time nor the resources to implement and maintain a working fast-rope solution that actually contributes to gameplay.

I had this idea for a Heli to have a door on both the left and the right sides which can be controlled by the passenger in that position in order to get out or by the co-pilot who can override it(If the Passenger is a smacktard) And open one on each side individually. Say the left side is under attack so the Co-Pilot opens the right side door and lets out the people and Vice Versa.
I was asking about engine limitations because i remember how someone once suggested that there be 2 openable doors on the Merlin controlled individually by the co-pilot and i was thinking it might be hard coded.

Sorry, I'm just tired of seeing fast roping posts, and as Clypp said, this sounded like an attempt at getting fast roping to work.David.Podedworny wrote:I was'nt talking about fast ropes.(You think i want this thread to get locked lickity split?)

I don't see why you'd need to move the passenger seat's up and down? How would that override their control over the doors?

No problem man i'm also sick of them too.[R-DEV]KingofCamelot wrote:Sorry, I'm just tired of seeing fast roping posts, and as Clypp said, this sounded like an attempt at getting fast roping to work.
It was just an example. See when inserting people with any heli there always is the danger of small arms fire so with the ability for the doors to close and open it guarantees some safety for the passengers(Ok just the merlin but not by much because you have all those open doors), As they passengers can choose when and which part of the heli to leave from. Right now when you get in the heli it's either from the side or back same with exit and I was thinking with the doors open you can get in and out but with them closed you can do neither.[R-DEV]KingofCamelot wrote: I don't see why you'd need to move the passenger seat's up and down? Heres an example.
On Ghost Train, Your squad has been tasked with an Insertion behind enemy lines. The Helicopter doors have been closed, The passengers can look out the windows and not get shot, You've reached the drop off point and the Pilot tells you to exit the heli, The Passengers quickly look around and see that the enemy is on one side waiting to ambush you. You tell the pilot that its not safe on that side so you open the door on the other and tell him to stay and provide cover for you,
You get out and with your Squadmates Ambush the Ambushers.
Now the reason i suggest that the co-pilot be able to open the doors is what if someone is being a jackass? Or more likely AFK? That way the pilot can open the door and let you out without wasting time and patience with the AFK jackass.
Tell me is it a good Idea? Because many times i have been shot out of a Transport heli on my way to and from a point of interest.

I'd like to know if you can make it so that regardless of what seat you're in, when you hit E you're standing in the merlin...

Well in all honesty the opening/closing of that back hatch is sort of useless -- you come out from the side door anyways.
