I searched it and read throught the entire suggested suggestions and this particular idea never came up.

I was remembering back when EOD had their signal grenades for the Helos and how it had showed up on all minimaps. It got me thinking of having a signal grenade like that for the squad leader that puts a Aircraft or helo mark on the minimap and Attack Helos/Attack jets can Identify a target, check the area for any friendlies (if the SL put it in the wrong spot) and when all is confirmed go in on a attack run. It's better that using countless rockets on strafing runs and not get anything. Plus SLs can now get more assistance out of the Air. I remember back to .5 where everyone was typing during the game to the A-10 pilot up in the sky trying to direct him to enemies. It doesn't have to be like EODs with a smoke grenade, it could be like an order in the command rose. Where you look through Soflam, call it in via command rose. and when the plane/helo identifies it goes in on an attack run.

I remeber in Point of Existence you could call in for artillery by using the soflam...

I guess it could work in Project Reality jets aswell somehow.

SL already has a green smoke grenade, press 9
R-Devs could ask the dev from BF2 Assault, how to make the smoke give the green square thing for targeting and we're good to go.

great.. maybe landings zone for chopper with an smoke grenade (what you can see on map)
and a soflam for attack runs
