Scope question and suggestion.
The rifleman scope zooms at 4x, Marksmen zoom is at 8x, And sniper Zoom is at 8x reg and 12x max. Now what i wanna know is are there any other zoom levels in between those 3? Or does it go up by 4x increments?
And my suggestion is can you guys give the rifleman a light zoom of 2x and the Marksmen a light zoom of 4x while giving the sniper a zoom of 16x.
Anyone agree or disagree?

Incorrect. Zoom levels are representative of their real life counterparts. Give me a minute and I'll show you......
EDIT: OK,
Iron Sights : No zoom with the exception of the rifleman/officer M16A2 (placeholder for the M16A4 ACOG)
Rifles.
The G3A3 and QBZ-95 optics are both 4x, same with the SUSAT on the L85.
DMRs.
M14 is 9x to represent a leupold scope (commonly mounted on....an M14
)
SVD is 4x to represent a PSO-1 optical sight,
The Type88 has a 4x sight.
Sniper Rifles.
M40 - 3x-12x
L115A1 - 3x-12x
MEC & CHI sniper rifle is a placeholder.

I think they're fine the way they are. Just would like to see some ACOGs on the M16s rather than super human eye ball iron sites.

To tell ya the truth i kinda hate the 4x zoom in CQC, But thats only me it's pretty stupid i know but i hate being rifleman in that position(Thats why i go medic most of the time) What i really wish to have is that assistant rifleman kit suggested by another person but like thats ever gonna happen(I mean come on we all know the kits will be reduced again in .7)[R-DEV]Jaymz wrote:What do you wish to achieve by doing that?
I never understood why people always went on and on about the scope being so great. It's nice and all but for the things that i specialize in it's useless as it makes it harder to take down targets in CQC and Movement, I really just want my old unscoped gun back as Rifleman(I love having nades and smokes thats why go as that kit)

I know it's just rifleman kit would be perfect for it because of the load he carries.(Frags and Smokes are a deadly duo if used properly) My other choice is Spec-Ops but they fill another role.[R-DEV]Jaymz wrote:You do realize that ACOGs/SUSATs etc are not intended for CQB...
EDIT: Forgot to say the Medic kit and Engy are great for CQC but most SL's wont let me fight like that(Unless i get a grenadier kit or something else not that vital to the squad)

Agree with the sniper. Don't care about the rest that much.David.Podedworny wrote:The rifleman scope zooms at 4x, Marksmen zoom is at 8x, And sniper Zoom is at 8x reg and 12x max. Now what i wanna know is are there any other zoom levels in between those 3? Or does it go up by 4x increments?

You do realize that without weapon sway ( which is impossible on BF2 engine or hardcoded ) assault rifles with 4x zoom have an accuracy of sniper rifle on bipod ( while standing btw ) ?[R-DEV]Jaymz wrote:You do realize that ACOGs/SUSATs etc are not intended for CQB...
I think that either random deviation or lower level of zoom is must have . Atm assault rifles in PR are more accurate then their RL counterparts because human factor is completely denied by the engine\game\whatever .
Take a look at vanilla L85A1 . Absolutely fine weapon , very accurate ; with a little random ... though still places about 70% of shots accurately

If the G36 was adopted, as I suggested in the "Ask PoE for help" thread, then you could have the best of both worlds. It has two sights, one 1x red dot sight on top for cqc and a 3x optical sight below for longer ranged engagements. It would probably have to be set up as two weapons, each with either sight option when you zoom. They would also have to share ammo.
In response to the question of zoom levels, I believe that you can put any value (>0) in there.

DEVs can, yes. Will they? No. Because they've gone to the trouble of trying to match as much of the mod to its real life counterparts as possible, given engine limitations.nedlands1 wrote:In response to the question of zoom levels, I believe that you can put any value (>0) in there.
If the SUSAT on the L85 is 4x magnification (which it is), then the L85 in-game will have a 4x magnification... because that's what's real.
As for CQB, if you want to shoot people close up with a scoped weapon, keep it at the hip and learn where the centre of your screen is. Move so that you position the enemy in the centre of the screen, and then fire on full auto until you see them hit the floor dead. Don't fanny about raising the weapon to your eye, you'll just be wasting time.
