I play a round on Kashan desert. I'm having a party with an F-16 (The MiGs were new or something). I fire a few missiles at a large gathering of infantry killing 10. I make a few passes and get a few more. I'm feeling pretty good about this until I look at my score and see that I've got 27 global points with 13 kills and 0 deaths. I didn't recall teamkilling as I had started a few minutes prior and my teamwork points were at 0. Um... It took all of my concentration and focus to get 27 points, but a few rounds before I got 224 points by being afk for 30 minutes.
Which did more? Doing literally nothing or potentially ending several firefights allowing my team to move to an objective undeterred?
What is wrong with this picture? Isn't your global score supposed to reflect how effective an asset you were? When I'm flying transport choppers I seriously get a point every time someone gets into the chopper. Like support is nice, but isn't the idea is to actually kill the enemy? Like I can't think of a time when my team won while killing the enemy less. The score right now is not reflective of the difficulty of the task performed. Killing a tank for example is a lengthy procedure, risky, often results in repeated deaths, means that a squad member (engineer or HAT) can no longer inflict serious damage to personell (especially enemy riflemen), not to mention hitting a tank at long range with HAT is still hard against moving objects. But killing tanks gives you the same amount of points as a rifleman dropping ammo bags. In fact, usually less because the HAT may end up dying a few times before the tank is dead.
Oh and I really do appreciate riflemen who actually give ammo (especially to the HAT and engineers). But lets be honest. You just want the scope don't you?
Ok heres my idea. Killing any vehicle, even empty ones should give you points. If I kill a tank and the crew escapes, did I help my team? Yes. Did I actually have to risk a little bit? Yes. The crew might escape, but thats still one tank down. Killing a tank when under fire is something that they give infantry medals for IRL. Shooting down a plane or chopper should give you a pretty significant number of points, especially to MANPADS or AA vehicles. Killing empty vehicles also gives the rather superfluous Special Forces kit a bigger incentive to stop being front line infantry and start being special forces.
