Commander Asset? SWORD Robot

Post by VipersGhost »

I was just throwing this out there as I saw it on Drudge today. I know we've talked about it before but it might be cool as a defensive commander asset that can operate near firebases/bunkers. I guess the recon versions performed something like 80,000 missions to disarm IED's etc? Pretty cool stuff, sounds like the US is going robotic in the "Near-Future" ;) Go ahead and flame me, but you can't deny that you wouldn't like one of these as a commander asset? Maybe require an engy to build it\use it so people are going commander and just sitting there playing with it instead of being the CO. Give it a short range near the bunkers\firebases etc. Eitherway, just thought you guys might want to checkout the links...doubtful if it'd work for PR.

LMAO!

I don't know, there just aren't enough players (32 aside) to fulfill every role that a real battlefield has, and that includes Robocop.

It's actually a very cool idea but there's not enough room for it in PR as they're mostly used for desabling IED's and eliminating suicide bombers. In PR we have a very fast-paced game where p
eople will prefer flanking the enemy theyselves instead of waiting for it to be deployed by the commander. IED's can't be covered in game as far as I'm concerned.
I've seen a video where the american troops disabled a carbomb but his crew were still alive. They were afraid to approach the car as the crew could still blow it up and used the SWORD to flank and kill them. You see, this kind of situation we don't have in game so it'd be useless to have a robot.

WWII was frenetic, Today warfare takes thing more seriously, they take care and time, which is the oppsite in BF2, you're more likely to get killed because the enemy just decided to "Flank" you and knife you while you were "patrolling" for IEDs.

If it is put in, make is a pickup kit. And, you play star wars cantina music every so often automatically because you're kind of like a droid tech.

Hmm I always thought it would be cool. Maybe have a remodeld huvee or something and have a seet in the back to control the car. The person could click a button to enable the car and it would apear outside the car and he could control it. Or at an airbase we could have a room that has a controlable uav! You go outisde and see the uav on the runway but it can't be hmm what the word lol? Only when you go to the station thing you could control it, and only 1 person can control it. Also It is possible in a way. Like in 2142 the titans there were seats where you control a gun so why not a uav? There are downsides to this but I really don't feel like going into detail as I wrote alot already. I say maybe to the robot if we have some one willing to do it and has spare time. I say yes %100 to the uav.

I hate the idea of robots replacing soldiers on the battlefield, in real life and in PR

Technology is destroying modern military's. Its getting rediculous. All a soldier needs is a rifle with some iron sights to kill an enemy, he doesnt need super ultra mega technology that weighs 200 pounds strapped to his body.

STOP THE ROBOT INVASION INTO OUR MILITARYS, SUPPORT TROOP FORCE
Steve: "I've got an M4 attached with an ACOQ Reflex sight, an M203 Grenade Launcher, a 4X power scope, a bipod, a massive night vision scope, a flashlight, a lazer pointer, a suppressor, a drum magazine, and a cappuccino maker"
Dan: "Mhmm, interesting. And how much does the gun weigh? Whats the recoil like? How accurate is it?
Steve: "About 50 pounds, it broke my shoulder when I fired it, and it couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. But it sure looks cool"

Against any military with any sort of jamming equipment, that robot is useless. So yeah.

Interesting idea.
Lets make that robot alive with Microsoft sponsored software = make random crashes and random berserking which means it will try to kill each civilian and ally on sight.

I've seen The Terminator. And Dr. Who.

I know where it ends.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Raspberry or Strawberry? If we are going to do this the counter force needs to be accurate. So I ask again Raspberry or Strawberry? ;-)
