Whats the point of the US Army??

We already have the USMC, whats the point of having the US Army??

They have similar weaponry, similar vehicles, same flag, nearly identical skins, and they all sound the same.

Its basically just having USMC 2 with a different name

There's a load of equipment and vehicles that the Army uses but the USMC doesn't and it wouldn't be realistic to have Marines using Strykers, Bradleys, or Littlebirds. And I wouldn't call the skins nearly identical... in fact, they're not even close.

Assault rifle:

USMC - M16A4
US.A - M4 (S-1-3)

Attack helicopter:

USMC - AH-1Z/W (Super) Cobra
US.A - AH-64A/D Apache (Longbow)

APC/ICV:

USMC - LAV-25

US.A - Stryker ICV

Utility helicopter:

USMC - UH-1Y

US.A - UH-60 Blackhawk

That's all I could think of off of the top of my head.

The skins are not the same! The Army uses ACUPAT, which is a grey-green digital camo pattern. The USMC have 2 different MARPAT patterns; The Green and the tan digital camo.

It would also be VERY unrealistic to have the United States fighting without the Army and only the Marines. The Army wouldnt be that hard to add when compared to other factions and they have some cool new gear as well as them being realistic so the real question is why not?? Also afaik most of the army stuff is already done or on the way either by the community or another mod under BSS so the only thing the DEVs have to do is make the M4 and some other small things(M203, ACOG, etc...). In the end its just a good business choice to add the Army.

the same question may be put to why do the US have both the US Army and USMC and not just merge them into one?

The fact is that it is something easy to do from a developmant point of view and can change the gamplay for the better, make the mod more appealing and really its good all round. Crating a entirly new faction from scratch takes alot of work, we have proved that with the British which we still aint finished fully yet with working on the other factions at the same time.

I thought we had US forces, with the USMC just being the plaeholder for them, at least that's what I recall a DEV saying...

Not agian Damn!

and yes they have some simalir things but other wise they are different. the army is the CORE of the US armed services. alll other branches come off of it. The US army travels where the USMC are and sometimes more.
