Compiled Commander/Asset suggestions

Post by Clypp »

The main base has bunker properties allowing razor-wire and AA creation.

Command post is either eliminated (Great), comes full health (good) or allows replacement without using C4(good)

Commander can request supplies. It is silly and very unrealistic for the commander to ask a squad leader to ask himself to ask for supplies. I understand the problem was Rambo Commanders requesting supplies for themselves but if the officer kit is required this wont be abused for rockets.

Disallow anyone but commander to drive the Trucks and allow only one in existence at a time. Preferably in a way that requesting a new one makes the other blow.

Allow officer kits to be requestable from the supply trucks only.

Command post has to go. It serves no useful purpose. I mean, it's your main base... By default shouldn't it come with a command post? Also, it:
  • Invites enemies to camp your main. On most servers this is prohibited anyway. If the main base is a valid target (all other bases lost) then the round is about over and losing a command asset is the least of your worries.
  • Low cooperation to get it built from the start. Squads are so eager to leave the base at the beginning of the map, and many commanders end up spawning as an engy, requesting officer kit, placing post, pick up engy kit, rachet to full health, pick up officer kit. Very gamey.
  • Just another protocol to forget while you're trying to place a bunker and realize either
    1. You forgot to place the command post at main
    2. The enemy has entered your main and destroyed it. yay.
    3. Command post was not fully repaired, slowly lost health, then vaporized.
Also agree with the commander truck; only the commander should drive it. Although I don't think it should be spawnable... I'm not in favor of any mobile spawns.

I disagree with limiting officer kits to supply trucks. Often you are out on your own with your squad and your rally. If you couldn't request an officer kit after dying... too harsh.

Well trences would not be able to sink into the ground so unless you want a levee with a slit treanch in the middle to spawn on the battlefield it is very much not happening.

MGs on walls could be a problem, it depends what you mean. If you mean spawning a sandbag wall with an MG on it that could probably be done (I'm not a coder so don't quote me on that) but actually placing an MG on an existing wall is just going to have all sorts of problems when it comes to the statics meshes is my guess.

What I would like to see is some support weapons. Perhaps a commander deployed M2 on a tripod, or its equivalent, on maps where there are no jets/choppers, to replace the commander deployed AA guns as these currently chew through everything and it would seem more realistic maving a HMG section deployed to a front where air cover is not needed. Something like this

That would be nice, stop people from taking off with them. Only one truck at a time would be fine but if the other auto destructs you could end up tk'ing a few people around the second truck.

NO!! Officer kits are to important and the truck has a specific purpose already.
