Set-up Artillery/Numerous Others

Post by Reddish Red »

The set-up AA is nice, however its not that effective aginast tanks, APCs etc... I also feel that when its used to mow down INfantry its used for the wrong purpose ;) .

I think having Set-Up artillary would be a good commander asset, it could be like:

USMC: M198 howitzer

British Army: L118

MEC: D-30/2A18M or Something Else.

I think also that there should be set-up Machine Guns like:

USMC: M2 Machine Gun (Or a Updated Version)

British Army: L2A1 (British Version of the M2)

MEC: I'm not too sure, Suggestions :S

Set-Up Grenade Lauchers are also good, but i feel with the Morter coming soon.. they might be useless.

Anyway, your thoughts

This is a very good point. The setup AA is indeed used on INF 70% of the time. Maybe this is how it is IRL and thats ok...if not then a different solution might be a better choice. Its not that bad for now as the AA guy is usually sniper bait. I've for sure heard of this kind of AA used on infantry though just dont know if thats standard practice.

Sounds like a good idea. If you do add deployable elements like these, I'd say limit the lowering of the elevation of the AA weapons so they can aim level with infantry.

Deployable arty isn't really needed for the current map scales. Mortars should be quite sufficient.

Take for example the L16/M252 81mm mortar used by Britain, Canada and the United States (other nations as well, but those ones are/are going to be, featured in PR). It has a range of approximately 5km firing high explosive rounds with the most recent/powerful charges. Now that range is more than sufficient to cover the current maps in PR.

Deployable HMGs have been suggested before, to save you reading the thread it basically ended with "bring a jeep".

On the subject of AAA being used against ground targets, its perfectly realistic. Definetly with the Russian equimpent AAA is intended for dual uses as anti-air and anti mateiral, to a lesser extent so is the western equivelant (example: M42 dusters used in the anti-personel role during the Vietnam war.)
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

It would be more Powerful then Morter though, I know it might not be Needed.

I still want deployable MGs though, or at least limit the AAs to Engineer etc.

Uh that would be because AA stands for "Anti-Air" not "All-Armor". :D

Could they fix the AA used on infantry, by not allowing the gun to target low enough to hit infantry on the ground? I don't remeber seeing army training videos on "How to turn the enemy soldier into confetti"

Nah, maybe make deployable SAM launchers with ground-to-air missiles and no guns

That would be a far better approach, but this could only be done once the missiles have been fixed.

Maybe your squad is the one that uses and maintains the jeep? To be used as fire support after having driven to the next flag, while the rest of the team are reading the newspaper in the main base, catching up on daily importances such as Beckhams new SUV or who got kicked out of Big brother?

Yeah, what's the point in killing enemy infantry trying to get to your frontlines? Pffft, it's a waste of time creating chokepoints so the enemy is concentrated into a kill zone.
