"Tagging" cars

Post by hx.bjoffe »

Don't you just hate it when some random moron steals your squads designated HMV/nanjing/vodnik/landrover? I do. :x
Han F*kin Rambo Solo heads off full throttle (typically with a couple of your sqaudmates not able to get out) getting blown and wasting a very valuable asset. Multiple scenarios can be described. Too many players regard the cars as expendable ego-rides to the next flag, when on certain maps they can be the very key to success.

Is it possible (and easy enough) to eg. add a spraycan to the officerkit, tagging the car and locking it to a certain squad? Putting a marker-code to it; killing any non-SM in the driverseat (like with Armored/Airborne Vehicles) or making them un-entrable (like Opposite Team Vehicles)?

Furthermore, does this suggestion make any sense ("happens all the time") or plain stupid ("never been a problem, has lots of drawbacks")? It might just be me being grumpy today, after playing 11hours straight yesterday (new personal record) and having this happen to me alot.

Discuss.

And yeah mr. Viking, something like this has propably been suggested before.

You're correct on the last part.

I think you can only team lock vehicles.

A tip would be; designate a driver, and don't have him exit the vehilce no matter what.

It does work. You get called a teamkiller and that you teamkill for vehicles. But when you hope in a HUMVEE as a gunner and the driver hopes out for at most 5 seconds (get officers kit) and have the gunner (whos the only blue guy) get in the drivers seat and start driving off. YOU MISTER BLUE GUY WILL GET SHOT.

Yes this is a post at you mister MiloBomb.

I have found that having an engineer drop C4 in the back of the vehicle in plain sight of everyone, then taking some distance, makes some people bail.

the worst is when you have a defensive position, with your squads vehicle positioned in such a way as to minimize damage from incoming fire yet keeping the 50cal in an excellent firing position. then joe rambo hops in the car, running down 2 squad mates trying to stop him, and immediately runs over the friendly landmine field and punishes for it....

then spawns back in the same spot and says 'this mod sux there are no vehicles'......

I've had this Multiple times happening to me, with Humvee etc supporting Sqauds, then someone gets in a drives it striaght into Enemy Fire.

Its why i suggested Set-up MGs.

Anyway:

Yes, but this applies to initial battle; headin out of Main, or on the Front w/.50Gunner surrounded by Smurfs. Many other scenarios apply. In addition to being an at many times hardly needed means of transportation, it is also a heavy ammosupply and a defencive emplacement. You cant have a SM guarding the car the entire round. Unless you're a really good SL.

What about when neatly parking the car behind at the Rallypoint for later use, maybe off for an alternative Objective on the way to your Primary Objective even?
You know, sometimes it's just "shit, we gotta get back to B fuckin' pronto. ...oh wait, whats our car doing driving away like that?" B might be a 4 minutes walk / a 20 seconds drive away. But that guy just had got to get out of his way to steal my car. He afterall had a m4 and a pack of Slams. He was VIP. And timing is everything. ;-)
OR leaving the car behind your with H-AT, having the remaining squad do a nearby operation? Little practical use in blowing up the car except for vendetta. Blood is sweet though.

Anyways, drunk and tired: Either stop taking cars that obviously belong to others, orelse we need a system.
And don't mess about with the spawncars either.
Use your heads.

Let me guess, Road to Kyongan Ni, yesterday :p

I had to go, but with a minefield in front of Outpost and tons of blue guys bunnyhopping around I somehow knew, this will happen sooner or later

Back on topic, the 'blue guy carjacking' issue is really annoying.
Especially, when you have a jeep and Heavy AT and you use the jeep for ammo and as soon as some blue ******* comes, he thinks, that the jeep has been brought there especially for his *** to drive it away

I love the pinning down enemies with a big .50 cal while your squads moves safely towards the flag, then some guy hops in and drives the car away scenario.
