Backup Ironsights on Scopes
A request that would reflect the rifleman's all round diversity is for right click on the standard assault rifle to bring up the back up iron sights on the scope for close in combat and peripheral view. Then pressing 'c' would bring up the 4x scope for precision.
ACOGs, SUSATs come with back up irons and scopes that do not will have to make do with the rifleman guesstimating the centre of the top of the scope.
Seeing as combat scopes on ARs are preset to a given magnification with no adjusting involved this would work only on ARs and not on sniper rifles ingame. There's no point in removing realistic functionality from the soldiers ingame for what might be perceived as a gameplay reason.
The advantage to riflemen would be deliberately and realistically small as 1) the scope would dominate the lower peripheral vision and 2) back up ironsights lack precision and accuracy and are zeroed at a mere 50m.
It would be a feature that most games lack, the inability to represent that there are more than just the extremes of hip-firing and zoomed ironsights.
It's been suggested beforeand not given much interest but it seems important to me, especially if PR's custom models allow for it.
Thoughts?
As an additional request for fairness, on unscoped rifles a similar situation could be set up, so that right clicking brings up an unzoomed iron sight view and pressing 'c' could zoom slightly and/or activate the cowitness that precision assault rifles have.

That said, I'm not too sure that we can give handheld weapons two different types of sights. I'm also not too sure if the G3/QBZ optics are equipped with backup sights.

If it's there to be used, it should be used.
Like I said, it's not quite a game breaker but the lack of a middleground between default rifle view at hip level and then fully zoomed in secondary option, annoys me no end, particularly as no game seems willing to address it. Newer ACOGs actually have little reflex optics on them these days. They're sooo cute

Yes, thats what he's talking about.
The SUSAT and ACOG both have topside back up ironsights.
The PSO-1 (well, more or less all sights with the Russian side mount) allow the use of the weapon's Iron sights, iirc.
The QBZ-95, as far as I can tell, has neither back up ironsights or the ability to use the weapon's.
I'm not sure about the particular scope on the Rifleman's G3, but the mount doesn't let you use the Ironsights on the weapon iirc. And I'm pretty sure the scope doesn't have back up irons.
Also note that the back up ironsights on the SUSAT/ACOG arn't actually adjustable and so cannot actually be zeroed from what I recall. And they're also not particularly nice sights, which is why they're reserved for emergencies. As such the in game ones should reflect that if introduced.

Problem is that isn't realistic for some factions.
Most notably the Brits, front line troops are never issued Ironsights, always SUSATs.

I'm not a fan of the double left click under most circumstances - it lacks the ability to react to a situation quickly when you zoom, zoom again, ahh back to normal.VipersGhost wrote:I like the idea and would enjoy some diversity as long as I dont HAVE to right click and then hit C just to zoom. Yes, great idea, as for G3/QBZ95 you guys could make the scope have no zoom / zoom since the Chinese ( maybe some middle east armies) teach their soldiers to shoot with both eyes open at close range, so from one eye you could see the rectile of the scope and from the other you could see the surroundings. it would look something like this:

DEVs is there any chance this could be implemented with a minimal amount of work? Maybe it could be added as a "1st" zoom option like the HAT's used to be?
1st zoom goes to iron sights, 2nd zoom flips up the scope!
EDIT: Now that I think about it, I suppose it wouldn't be that simple, because the iron sights are an entirely different "UI model"...Curse my speculation without proper research.

from what I know for a handheld weapon view there is no "f9-12" camera views ingame, and if there was it would work really, really badly.$kelet0r wrote:If the answer is harcoded I wouldn't be suprised. The double right click could be kind of annoying! Because if you wanted to fight a lot with iron sights, then you'd be running around some town going Irons, Scope, nothing, walk, Irons, Scope, nothing, walk, Irons, Scope, nothing. The scope there would be rather annoying. Plus if you wanted to go straight to scope you couldn't anymore.
I think a cooler idea would be to use a weapon key for each style of scope/iron sight usage. So, similar to the grenadier, he uses the exact same gun and gun model, but when he presses 3 he gets the gun and when he right clicks he gets a scope (well on china he does) and when he presses 4 and then right clicks, he does the grenadier zoom.
So they could just do it like that, 3 for irons, 4 for scope (or vice versa).
