Barret m82 Emplacment

Post by Smellyelly »

I like these new commander assets and one can only dream of what more is possible.
What i was thinking is... wouldn't it be better to have a placeable .50 cal sniper emplacement put down by the commander, insted ofonly limiting these kits to firing from prone? These emplacements would be very tacticle and in ways more realistic. The high callibar sniper normally finds high ground and covers, he isn't moving around an awful lot.

Commander MG or AT = good, commander Sniper = bad.

We don't need anything else to encourage someone to be an 'ubR3117' sniper.
They aren't really needed anyways. A good DMR can do the same job.

I think for an M82 this would not work because of the people who would just become commander, place this and take then resign to get the 1337 M82 and double Uzi's to pwn teh n00bs.

I know it has been suggested before but commander placeable HMG's would IMO be excellent.

If I understood this right,I think he means an emplacement where you can't move the weapon. Kinda like a MG,just some sandbags and a M82. This would fill the Gap between static MG's and TOW's.

I like it

Well would it be realistic to have a .50 cal sniper rifle at a bunker, an obvious area where troops are deployed? From what little I know about snipers they also don't stick around in one spot for prolonged periods of time if they are not simply doing recon. Would a heavy machine gun not be a more realistic deployable choice?

Sniper rifles are not a mounted weapon. Not aware of any military in the world that actually makes any use of this type of thing. Civvis may do it as a home project in somewhere like Amercia though.

I think hes suggesting it being Mounted to stop people from carriying the M85 around.

Its a Okay Idea, but yeah.. its not really needed

I never realized he meant a fixed mounted M82, lol, that's ridiculous tbh

This 'Bunker'/'Sandbag's' gonna' have to be somewhere completely stupid like on top of an over exposed bunker to get a good view around the map to make it even worthwhile. This would get totally pwnt by AT and HAT. In conclusion terrible idea, sorry :-(

Ah mounted M82s.

1 hit killing Raptors on Trespasser. Old school. Mind you, hitting anything with it was a *****. Damn that "robot arm" interface.

Anyway, no.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
