Commanders- How to talk to 1 squad at a time.
When you are commander FEW people ever seem to talk to one squad at a time...instead they broadcast everything to everyone...thus clogging up and breaking down the teamplay. Who wants to listen to all that. I was totally ignorant to this and I'm sure annoyed some people.
In the commander screen, select the desired squad....and hit your "SQUAD CHAT" (voice) button....NOT that "Commander Chat"(voice) button.
For me, when I'm in a squad I use the middle mouse button to talk to my guys and "V" to talk to the commander.
So for me, when I'm the commander....I would open my commander screen, select the desired squad and hit "Middle mouse" button to Voice Chat to ONLY that squad. If I do need a global broadcast I simply hit "V"....which should be RARE.
last night some guy was YAMMERING on forever as the commander...so our SL muted his dumbass. Shortly after he got our SL kicked because we wouldn't listen to him. Obviously he was EXTREMELY lacking as a commander obvious as our decent team getting run over in a VERY unbalanced map (in our favor)...and his rediculous noob-yammering into the mic. Right after he kicks out SL, his excellency then immediately quits being the commander. Laughable at best. So the moral of the story is....quit yammering on the broadcast channel as CO and you will SURELY get more respect (showing you aren't a noob CO) and definitely get more teamwork going.

what a bunch of horseshit. I was a squad leader in that very same round on TG when you and those TF21 guys got kicked. i don't know the guy but he wasn't a bad commander at all. just for the fact that he was talking you should be grateful. y'all took the armor and basically did jack shit with it because your squad leader muted the commander within the first few minutes of the round and he could no longer coordinate anything between infantry and armor, the enemy was all over the estate flag and took it very quickly after capturing kyong'an ni. at that point yall got your asses blown away, most likely you weren't receiving any info on the whereabouts of the enemy. squad leaders who mute commanders should be perma-banned instantly, it's like the ultimate way to say "I do not wish to be apart of this team." which is entirely against the atmosphere of the Tactical Gamer server. if that guy was such a noob CO why did we completely obliterate the opposing team in the round before? (in which the same guy was our CO)VipersGhost wrote:When you are commander FEW people ever seem to talk to one squad at a time...instead they broadcast everything to everyone...thus clogging up and breaking down the teamplay. i believe he did so much talking in the first few minutes of the round because when you, as a squad leader, hear the orders being given to other squads you are better able to get the wider picture of your role in the fight. if he talks to individual squads he would have to explain the objectives of each squad to you to accomplish the same thing at least 6 times over, it's inefficient and a waste of time. y'all took the tanks, which are essential to blocking the enemies advance and might have put a dent in them but they proceeded to hand our *** to us rather swiftly.

we were the chinese actually, if you were on the USMC then your whole team inexplicably got their shit together after being totally owned the round before and had our whole team running around like chickens with our heads cut off. guess y'all did have a good commander that round.
oh and BTW, to wee in Vipers soup just a lil more, I actually had my squad named "Engineers" cuz I planned on placing mines and blowing up necessary bridges (very important on that map) and even though I could barely get one other guy to stay as engineer class (you know those n00bs that join an engineer squad and immediately pick sniper? yeah I managed to get one of those) we still could've repaired y'alls tanks up real good if not for the TF21 squad leader muting his mic and impeding any such coordination.

Regardless of what happened last night, as a general point - this is the sort of thing that should be very much encouraged. I now try and use the CO->Single Squad chat as much as possible and when speaking to all squads I prefix my calls with "All Squads, All Squads".
"It is not the responsibility of a defender to leave the objective unguarded just so his opponent sucks less."
