Trying to fly
Today i watched Top Gun,
And it gave me an inspiration to become a better pilot,
Im an ok pilot but i wan't to be a great pilot, wich means that i have to learn while in game,
Before some one asks, i have practiced many times on a LAN server, but that does nothing but show you the basics,
I have never shot down an enemy, but i have gotten very close, and usually my wingman gets him.
Today on Zatar, i decided that i'll use the A10 to help my team out,
Little did i know that my brother refigured the joystick, so i crashed it,
I know i "wasted a valuable asset" but it was one of the only ways to learn,
errr flying i mean not crashing.
Are there any tips the PR community can give me to help me become a better pilot.
PS
Yes i was listening to Highway To the danger zone while i was flying

But seriously... Kenny Loggins FTW. But back to the topic, I use mouse + keyboard, sorry for not being able to help you. But Ive seen on Kashan, while playing as AA, if you want to avoid AA, as soon as you get a lock-on try flying up into the clouds (unless an F-16 or Mig is on your tail). Works to keep the AA unlocked on you.

There really isn't much of a way that I think anyone could help you become a better pilot in v0.6. I mean frankly the whole flight dynamic is really odd. You can literally just twitch constantly and no one could get a lock on you; that is how the A-10 and the frogfoot stay up so long on Kashan even when two fighters are trailing one of them. It is just about impossible to maintain a lock on any of the aircraft unless the pilot is flying just about completely straight or in a very predictable matter, but, that might also just be me.
IRL, just about any aircraft designated for CAS will get owned by a fighter, but that isn't the case in PR at the moment.

Fly choppers.. Jets are just useless.. I have never saw an A10 or something else stay alive for the whole round! While I was transporting people in my littlebird
It's just that everyone wants to fly the jets (especially the new guys) and crash everything! I've been asked ca. 10 times a round, how do I get pilot kit :@

Yes but recently very less good pilots actually get up in the air.. When I was in the F16 I was landing and got killed by a friendly tank that 'accidentally' thought it was a Mig that was landing.. Then when I took off in the next F16 I got C4ed and told:
'WTF! How did I kill you'
'You C4ed me, I saw it in the back cam..'
'But you weren t even so closeee omfg!!'

I have never been shot down by an enemy plane, only AAA when I was sacrificing my life to keep the burning Frogfoot doing silly things over the enemy main alive. Tip=Don't try to save stupid pilots.
I fly with a joystick aswell, waht you gotta do when taking off is put your joystick speed thingy off in the options, taxi to the runway, then esc and put your joystick settings back on and take off.
When you land you hop out when you stopped on the ground hop out and pray to Allah or God (depending on side
) that noone will nick your plane, esc again and put your speed handle off in options again, hop in, turn around and take off.

Duh, everyone knows the easiest way to land the A-10 is to just bail out of. I'm not even kidding, it lands itself. Try it.
Just avoid planes in PR right now, they're not balanced properly. Although my advice is to remember that in a jet, you only have two options at high speed: nose up or nose down. Turning and maneuvering is a matter of changing what's up and what's down.

Practise with me on an empty server if you want. I am not a great pilot, but I am not that bad, and it would give me someone to practise with too. Just say when and I could probably join.
Oh, and for the choppers, try flying them into the bunkers on kashan, and then back out again. That should help!

I think the oddness and the twitchyness have to do with the Gravity in game being so high. I think it's something like 14.8 m/s*s, when it should be something like 9.8 m/s*s. If the Gravity were made realistic, then the planes could fly at slower speeds and NOT fall out of the sky. That would reduce a lot of the twitchyness (how you like that word). Not to mention the vehicles would respond to terrain more correctly. Also all of the muzzle velocites in game could be adjusted to give the "correct" arching effect that they should have. That would add to correcting a lot of maximum effective range issues. Correcting the Gravity settings in game would address a lot of querks with flying and other things as well.CannonballGB wrote:There really isn't much of a way that I think anyone could help you become a better pilot in v0.6. 2 pilots.. One behind the other. Like a trainAlex6714 wrote:Well I failed so far!
And the missiles are a joke sometimes. I have fired one from the ground locked onto a mig and it got within 2 metres, did a 90º turn and shot down a friendly F-16 that flew by. Sometimes you can get lucky shots though.
