Vehicle control idea
Ok Well I was looking at the Nations at war mod which really looks amazing. I then looked at a trailer of it on youtube and when it got to the boat landing part something hit me. The boat was sliding away. Why not have the scroll wheel on the mouse be able to change gears on the car of parking break or something. It shoud be possible because of 1. Bf2 sandbox you can freeze objects and when your flying a jet you can change the throttle (speed) when you are using a joystick.

There was something about manual transmission before and people were saying that alot of modern military vehicles are automatic (tanks included) although I'm sure us British have more pride in our manuals then to not have them in the army, especially on a Land Rover!
Pity about the physics though, Land Rovers (excuse the hint of nationalism bringing those up again) are the best off roaders in the world and technically should be able to climb a hell of alot of the hills in PR maps if the engine wasn't so screwed up.

i thouht most vehicles in the army used automatic, but yea..
i like the idea actually, and im sure it all could work with some modifications.. but i think it would be LOW priority.. maybe in the future somewhat..
I would rather like to see the mouse wheel to be the accelerator, like using a joystick, so you can drive slow & fast.
also the Humvee's engine sounds and acceleration sounds should be improved alot

If you have a driver there is no need for a parking brake, but what the hell! If you're into solo tanking then your suggestion is the best!
As Rhino said, assign the joystick throttle/pedals to accelerate and reverse, and then you can go as slow as you want.
If you can find a program which will turn the mouse scroll into an axis (like the joystick throttle) then you could get it to work.

in fact I think i could do that with my mouse on SST. I may give that a go, only problem would be getting your tank to stop quickly if you saw a mine etcEl_Vikingo wrote:If you can find a program which will turn the mouse scroll into an axis (like the joystick throttle) then you could get it to work.
