WHY IS NO ONE HELPING ME?!?!?

Please take the time to read this... I know this looks like a lot to read but do not go away!!! It'll only take you 1 minute!!

Okay well I am fairly new to Project Reality and if you look around on these forums you will see that I have a few threads posted concerning my experience playing pr. Most of the time people leave a few notes and then the thread closes so if you can help than please do so... That would just make it the best day in my life! The bottom line is I can't wait to play Project Reality but I can't... and here's why...

(I downloaded v0.6 from this site which is probably the best place to get this mod I'm assuming...)

1. When I click on the pr shortcut the game starts but when I click on Single Player, Multiplayer, or Community the game crashes!

So I deleted all the shortcuts including the guide and such that came with the download. Then I discovered if I start the game manually by clicking on the BF2 then logging in, then community, then custom games, then pr/actvate it works just fine! It also works when I start it from Modjive... So I dont care about the game crashing anymore which usually happened with all my mods that I started from the shortcut so now I just start them all from Modjive (or sometimes manually) but the point is they all work.

2. So then I noticed there is no single player with pr which is fine but I always play SP first on a mod before I go online. I know where to get the SP/Coop maps but do not have any yet... I noticed you have to have winrar to install them but I figured if you know any .zip files then I would be so happy to get my hands on those because I figured since I already have winzip then it could save some time but it really don't matter much to me...

3. But when I do try to join an online server there are no servers showing up! I have my internet filters down to the following: "same mod, same version, punkbuster, and small/medium/and large maps." Tell me if this is correct. I also changed the drop down menu in the upper right corner from "conquest" to "all" so I can join any server playing any type of game... still nothing!!!

I love the effort put into this mod and I've posted for help on other threads before on the same topic but I don't ever get an answer that helps a lot... usually it's something like make sure you have the most recent version. (which is v0.6 right?? I also have v1.41 for Vanilla BF2, so I don't think that is the problem here)

Also on one of my last posts someone told me the more recent version for pr is v0.609 which I don't see advertised on this site but I imagine it's the same as v0.6.

I'd like to peform a little test with playing online with pr... here's my little idea... If you are an admin for a server or know an IP address off the top of your head then please post it here to see if it is possible to join even though no servers are showing up! I know this was a lot to read but I need help! PLEAAASE ALLOW ME TO PLAY THIS MOD!!!

Alrighty, I got a few ideas of what you can do.

If your using Vista, get a Dual boot, and run Windows & Vista on the same harddrive. or seperated.

Reformate your whole computer, redownload the Patch & 0.6 version of PR.

Update your Videocard Drivers to the latest

Reinstall BF2, patch it up to 1.41, then install PR .6.

I noticed under the game filters, you mentioned everything but unchecking the ranked servers box.

If that's not it, I think I know the problem, or I hope I do as I'm very empathetic to your delima. Did you by some chance, download the server files instead of the client?

Okay, first things first... THANK YOU FOR THE ADVICE!

One thing I would like to know is that if I reinstall and download Vanilla BF2 and PR v0.6 again will you be able to guarantee me that all the online servers will show up??? just wondering cuz I HATE reinstalling... :d uh: Mabye just reinstalling pr??

Also, I have a G-Force video card that I got about a year and a half ago... do you really advise me to update to a little something more expensive and perhaps better quality like a Radeon and whatnot?? To me I really don't think that could be the problem but I'm no super-tech computer engineer so I mean you tell me...

And I would still like someone to post an IP address so I can test the thing!!

Im pretty sure I installed the client and I know FOR SURE that I have the ranked box UNchecked... OOPS! Everybody ignore that...

i was about to suggest that have you tired manually connecting to servers? although it might be a ***** writing down all those ip's and port's.

Well I want to say thanks that you care so much about my problem which is driving me insane! But you really think that I downloaded the server files?? I mean to me I imagine that you wouldn't even be able to start the game without the client files plus I downloaded PR from this site: http://www.realitymod.com under the files tab which by the way is the only download available in that section so I'm pretty sure I have the client.

you talk about downloading and installing vanilla? Could that perhaps be your problem? that your warez version of the game cannot connect to EA's servers and so drops to desktop? (or you didn't crack it right)

Sorry MrD I didn't understand a word you just typed... lol no offense but I'm not familliar with "warez version" or what I didn't "crack right" I mean come on! I've tried everything I'm really getting frusterated with this! For everyone's sake! If your going to speak english,

you have helped me fix so many problems in the past so don't take it personally... Your like everybody's hero...

oh and I never said it dropped to desktop... That was months ago and thanks to you it doesn't do that anymore!

Ah, okay then.

Via google and some carefully crafted questions and a few hours of reading you can teach yourself not only how to build pc's from parts out of boxes but also install your OS, software you need, how to maintain hardware and software installations to get the most out of your gaming! I'd hate to try playing PR online regularly and not know what I do from putting the hours in!

WOW!

The first thing I asked myself was... do I even have the time to sit down and do that and when I do get the chance... well, I'd rather be sitting down playing PR but okay I'll take your word for it and mabye try to do that... after all I think it would be so totally amazing to be able to fix anything no matter what and have it be the easiest thing in the world but I bet everything I read is going to definently be like reading some weird foreign language... lol

That may be your problem right there. Double check and make sure you are running .609.

If the server has 62/64 players showing you will get a message that says you were kicked, ignore it and keep trying to get in.
That is THE Project Reality server and is, ot the best of my knowledge, never empty.
