Why does it have to be team 1 vs team 2? Is it hardcoded? And would it be possible to make a team 3?

Personally i would love to see a russian vs british tank map.

As I've said, that just isn't as plausible.

In the PR scenario, major combat operations are ongoing. The situation is very dynamic. It's unlikely that the invading powers would fight any ground battle against a regional paramilitary force like the militia. The militia does not pose an immediate threat to their interests, unless they were holding a valuable strategic asset such as a major city. The insurgents are different from the militia in that the insurgents have an ideological goal, not an immediately regional one. Furthermore, having PR insurgents fighting US and GB (and later Canadian) troops has a separate intrinsic value because of the contemporary relevance of this scenario.

The militia, meanwhile, as a Chechen nationalist (I believe) organization, would have every reason to use this opportunity to attempt to gain more territory from Russia.

Its just going to be very difficult to add to Team 1 if Russia are not in it. Apart from North Korea, i struggle to see any other meaningful allies unless maybe some African countries join in, and they are obviously a lot weaker technology wise than there opponents. There is plenty of scope for extra Team 2 as we've seen by the community modding.

I'm sure the decision made will have been thought about and not just rushed. I doubt anything about PR is rushed :P

The timeline of PR is very much dynamic, from my point of view. If the British and US were facing off against the MEC doesn't it seem a bit odd to you that theres also British troops still stationed in Iraq, at Basra no less?

It is virtually impossible that these events are concurrent. The same goes for the fighting against the Malitia. The halting of arms flow in the Balkans is likely to have taken place prior to the fighting against the MEC and PLA. Or possibly, as the original mission description read, the Malitia were shipping arms to the MEC and so the British were sent in to halt that supply.

Or with the current description, NATO asks the British to move against Malitia forces in the Balkans. This could be for any number of reasons. Perhaps the region has flared into war once again before or after the major conflict with the MEC and China and NATO have taken it upon themselves to halt it.

Also:
The militia, meanwhile, as a Chechen nationalist (I believe) organization, would have every reason to use this opportunity to attempt to gain more territory from Russia.
Now, I quote from the actual map description:
British Forces have been tasked by the remaining NATO nations to disrupt blackmarket arms flow from the Balkan region of Mestia. Malitia forces have dug in to defend their facilities and destroy the British intruders!
So lets look at a map, shall we?

Though there is a Mestia in Georgia, it is evedently not this Mestia.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
