Anyone possibly know a fix to get the ABR Client running? It keeps freezing when i boot it up...
I boot it up, see the splash screen, and it keeps at 0% and initializing.
WinXp Pro SP2, 2GB DDR ( Dual Channel, so 4 GB real), Enough HD Space, Dual 7900GTX.. ( in advance for all those that want to know PC specs..)
*edit, just got a error: Problem with reading the file for Reset

New error:
First error:
2n Error:
Anyone might know what this causes?
I have installed in various locations, and on the abr site and forum there nothing to find, except for a load of spam...
**EDIT**
http://www.battlefieldranking.net/optio ... 548.0.html
Gives the answer.. Had to use the extended google search options for it to find...
My google search : "ABR+Switcher" error
Has to do with hosts file not beeing able to write into.. Stupid error..
Also due to using a hosts manager to direct all the addlinks to 127.0.0.1, so adds dont show up.
First error:
Code: Select all
ABR switcher
Problem with writing the file for rewrite!
Code: Select all
ABR Switcher
Exiting due to fatal error!

@katanaGFR: I believe it has to do something with a file in the windows directory you have remove the write-protection
just cant remember which file.. you should perhaps be able to find it with a search.
the damn annoying thing I got with my ABR rank is, that I have the veteran air defense but not the basic badge. which means I cant rank up because a basic badge is missing and I get cant that badge because I already have the veteran one of it.
argh!

That didn't do anything for me. ABR is still a buggy POS.BLACKWIRE wrote:lol great thread!
If you're having problems using ABR, try editing your host file. It's a quick fix.
select 'Run' and then add..
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
open text editor and add
212.77.171.100 bf2web.gamespy.com
save.
Stats will work fine from now on..

that's on a windows box. a linux server can run ABR just fine.MAINERROR wrote:ABR is buggy especially for servers. Sometimes ABR causes a server-crash when it tries to send the files.
