At the risk of quoting myself, I just had another thought... if the # of kills were removed from the scoreboard altogether (even at the end of the round), and scoring was modified in a such a way that # of kills was minimal.... that could dramatically reduce the satisfaction of a cheater to use an aimbot.Wolfe wrote:Removing the scoreboard will make it that much harder to catch people using aimbots. The last few people who were caught and banned for this were primarily noticed by their unusually high scores which lead keeping a close eye on them. If the scoreboard is removed, being killed by an aimbot will likely be credited to "oh well I died again" instead of "how is that guy 110 and 9?"
Just something to consider.
Think about it... many lamers use aimbots to see how many people they can kill to grow their e-pee. If they never saw the kills on the field or on the scoreboard....

And by the way... shame on all of you for using the scoreboard to check for kills! In response to the title of this thread, I've never done this. Partly because I use the right numeric keypad for movement and the scoreboard key is all the way on the left tab.. but more so because of what PR is supposed to be. Shame! Shaaame!

Well, I would HOPE that the scoreboard still shows all the names! Just not the scores.maz.uk wrote:hmmm not sure my self i use it as do my admins, if other clan guys come in server and want swopping over to there clan then its easy plus sortin squads out as in get the right guys in the right squad and it helps police a server you can see -points , how many admins get told some one is tk ing them first thing you do is look at that for the - score , id like it out but need some thing there to help ,you cant keep dropping screen to go to bf2cc to see wots going on

Even if I'm going to be called a liar - I do not TAB to see the score. Why? Cause I like not knowing if I got the smuck. Sure, I have done it one time or another, but in general? Nope.

This is exactly the reason it needs to be removed lol. what you think this makes it a valid reason? lolNickO wrote:I do it all the time.
I see no fault in it :/
I mean like in OGT etc you are forced to when someone is lying in the grass and you open fire. You cant know if you have killed them or not if you dont. (of course you can walk up right into his face and check).
You SHOULDNT know if you killed someone unless you saw their body jump(which i wish it wouldnt) or you get visual confirmation. Boo!

even people who play fairly use the scoreboard to grow their e-penis.
i confess to this. it excites me to see a big 2 digit #(maybe a 3 digit # if there's armor!)=kills, next to a small 1 digit #=death
don't get me wrong. im still a great teamplayer and devout pr fan...

I sometimes check at the end of an assault or a long engagement, when perhaps we have just set a RP before the next movement. I don't check during or to confirm a kill, its cheap as hell.
Looking forward to it being removed, i wouldn't mind it being removed completely even from the end of the round, keeping the "Best <insert kit here>" section or just keeping the total score not the kills/deaths.
Its a nice idea for an experiment, people will slowly work for the objectives more and more that way, even brand new players to the mod, as there is nothing else to aim for. It could make a big impact on the teamwork feel of the mod.
