The AKS-47/AKMS is simply an AK-47/AKM with a folding stock. thats what the "S" stands for. If it had a shorter barrel it would have a "U" after the number to signify it is shortened. It has the same 16" barrel as the solid stocked AK-47.

To continue your analogy with the M16 series the AKS-47 is actually the M4A1 to the AK-47's SR16 (bassically a solid stocked M4A1).

The AKS-74U (the weapon I suspect you are thinking of) would actually be closer to the M733 (an M16 carbine with an 11.5" barrel) or other weapons in the "Colt Commando" series.

It was actually intended for tank crews and paratroopers where the standard solid stock is not desireable.

Anyway, nice model. I'd love to see it in game somewhere.

Now do an SMLE No.4 and a Bren Gun for the insurgents.

He's modelled both versions anyway unfolded and folded which is basically without the stock.
