Isn't a rifleman class going to be implemented? I think the grenadier should be a totally separate class.'[R-DEV wrote:Evilhomer']Don't fret, it's all being prepared! The UGL will possibly be with the assault class, carbine may also take over the shotgun for the engineer, and there may even be the choice between the minimi and the LSW!
My PR ingame name is Pvt.Nouri.

Holy Thread Revival, Batman!
Anyway, AFAIK it might be added for the crewman class in the distant future.
Also, congratulations on your sucsessful operation of the forum seach feature. You are a fine example to us all.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

L22A2 (SA80 Carbine) for British Crewmen + Pilots
Anyway know if the L22A2 is gonna added for the tank crews + pilots?
This is the A2 version, notice the picatinny rails.

And this is the older A1 version (notice different cocking lever), I only added it coz the top pic doesn't show you what it looks like with a clip.

1) The carbine SA80 has a shorter barrel and no rifleman is going to want to use it as their personal weapon. The accuracy over range is decreased from the standard rifle. It is a weapon for armoured crews, since it is easily manouverable and can save someones life as they exit or enter a vehicle (not having to spend seconds trying to rotate it to get it through the hatchway, even though the standard rifle model is already bullpup!)
The rocket you see attached to the barrel of the SA80 in the first page is what in the early 90's we called the "Claw rocket" and was being tested out in Northern Ireland. You switched over the rifles gas setting and fired a round which impacted the rear of the rocket, setting off the firing cap and launching the rocket. The UGL is the better option and has taken off. The very inconvenience of having to flip the casing cover and use a tool to adjust the gas setting doesn't make the Claw rocket anything more than a policing type weapon needing preparation time.

hahaha, the Carbine will eventually come in. Why not? It's a valid weapon. Just needs the usual staff to spend immense amounts of time getting it done for a future release.

Good job on searching.Ryan_c1979 wrote:Yea I've heard the L22A1 carbine, was only for tank crews. Is it gonna be added?
I think they had some problems with the belt-fed ammo. Something about not being able to have ammo go over the players body instead of in a box like the other MGs.robbo wrote:Ah i want to see the GPMG in game as a Heavy support more than anything else.
More guns and bullets make bad guys go away faster,
which in turn makes everyone in the area safer.

From what I heard due to the way weapons are modeled in BF2 the belt would just hang static off the weapon and also wouldn't appear to be fed into the weapon and bassically would generally look **** (with such antics as having an entire belt hanging off the weapon even if it were empty, and the reloading would probubly look fairly strange). Bassically you can't have "magazines" (which is what the belt would be in game terms) that disappear into the weapon or that waggle about as they move.KP wrote:Good job on searching. And possibly, I think.

Unsurprising, if you haven't been around for a while you wont get it.Ryan_c1979 wrote:What can I say, I really wanna see the L22A2 in PR lol! Bob what's with the pic of the M4, P90 n crewman, I don't get it, and yes I am n00b.
Anyway, you have commited something which is something not so easily forgiven. You misidentified an M733 "Colt Commando" as an M4! An M4!
You sir, deserve to be modernized. (see my sig).
