Fox 1/2/3 are only used for air-to-air guided missiles, not unguided air-to-ground rockets.

1 for semi-active radar guided, 2 for IR, 3 for active radar.

Another thing that helps immensely, is flying high (300-350m). It usually gives the height advantage over other choppers, and makes you a smaller target for ground threats.

You mean in real life, or in-game?

I agree with everything except the altitude because right now, with the AA missiles being shit and all, its better staying high, about 300-400, then at ground level, I have been shot down more times by tanks and by helis because I was to low than I have been shot down by AA at high altitude. High altitude also gives you a better view and makes it alot easier to aim with the canon because its safer (note: still not safe) to hover.

I mostly pilot since:
The 1st rule of Gunner club:
DONT TRUST ANYONE WHO GETS IN THE PILOT SEAT
Im just as happy being the pilot as the gunner.
But when I gun I find myself saying "go higher please" 3 times a minute.
Its easier to learn a bad gunner to gun when your a pilot than it is teaching a bad pilot to fly when you are gunning.

I'd love to fly with you sometime Emnyron.

I remember gunning for Emnyron's Cobra on 0.5 Basrah, USMC won, because we blew the heck out of Insurgents and did we even die once in that thing? ;)

Last time I gunned an Apache, we got shot down, cos the dumbass pilot hovered 20 m above ground next to an AA gun
Then he told me, that all I did was "bitchin", not gunning (gunner view was fooked back then, 0.6 OB, although I still managed to use it)

I just was writing something for someone interested in learning to fly/gun so I will c&p it here
First place to build up some experience is on single player or a really empty server.

Qwai has 4 helis and if only 20 people are playing you should get a chance to fly or die, nobody could really complain then.

Most important thing as an attack heli gunner is to be responsive and active. If you just sit there in silence then you are totally useless.
Things to do is spot hostiles so they appear on the minimap, tell your pilot & give coords especially if its AA or a tank. Use the TV missile, its like a nuke so use it! Chain gun is least important imo, its got a zoom level on it. Check the map, if the flag is clear of friendlies then go crazy with the gun.

Do all that and you will be an amazing gunner, everyone gets an equal chance at the round start to jump in the heli.
Im not a fan of 'wave spawning' and I dont respect anyone who waits for 20 mins for a heli and thinks that being totally useless to the team for that 20 mins means they have any rights over other players to fly

Well, I think i'd laugh if someone said "Chopper, Comming to a lineupp, Fox 1 when ready".
In real life it would be another case, but this is a game.
I dont see the problem of just saying "Enemy chopper, get him with a TV"
It's just as effective, and more people will understand what you're saying.
