A few Ideas

Post by marto »

I have a few ideas that I would like to see in this mod.

First off the f-15 needs to be replaced with the f-16 on the ground and the f-18 on a carrier. I know that the f-18 is the new plane used on carriers and I am pretty sure that the f-16 has replaced the f-15 on the ground.

Second I would really like to see iron sights on the weapons as this is a must have for a realistic mod.

Third and most important I would like to have the easy flying charactaristics that the new game is going to have be removed. There is a group of elite helocopter pilots including me that will have nothing to do in the new bf2 game.
All of the stupid non flyers will be able to fly in a helo and hover on the spot. I take great pride in being able to do insane insertions and extractions and this will all go away in the new game.

Please make the engine as hard to fly a helo as it in desert combat!

I would agree helicopter flying should be difficult, it should take a few days to get somewhat use to it, unlike bfv a monkey could fly it. I like how Eod does the helicopters although they are not realistic, they are closer to the real thing then bfv is, I don't want to see pilots doing the circle of death ****, circling a flag killing everything. Since this is a realism mod then helicopters should be difficult to fly, also weak against anti-air. When I heard BF2 was making them easyier to fly then bfv... I almost shit my pants, I dont even want to imagine how good some pilots will get.

no way the F-16 is to overused, if your going to put it in, atleast make it an air attack plane, and keep the F-15 to ground attack

here here, damn those noobs!!!! One thing though Mart, from some of the shots I'v seen of the Trauma boys fiddlin round with ideas for BF2, looks like they might be havin fast roping/rappling in it. If so, as long as a noob can pull to a hover he'll be able to insert troops.

U'll neva see me doing that though, ur a damn sitting duck doin that, good way to get urself shot down, Delta style insertions all the way!!!! :D

I think you're on the right track, Marto. We would like to do map-specific aircraft and vehicles.

The F-16 isn't a replacement for the F-15, though. They actually came out around the same time, maybe a few years apart (I'm getting old, almost 30, so, please bear with me). The F-16 was designed as a smaller, agile and less-expensive multi-role (attack and intercept) fighter that could also be easily sold for export. The F-15 was built from the ground up as an "air superiority fighter," i.e. dedicated long-range interceptor fighter. The F-16 has more agility than the F-15, and it can probably hold out better in a close-quarters "knife-fight" because of it.

From what I've gathered from the screenshots the F-15E "Strike Eagle" aircraft is the F-15 model depicted in BF2, and it isn't really a close-air-support platform, it's more specialized for deep interdiction strikes. The F-16 is used for CAS (when you can't get an A-10 or Harrier II) and other ground-attack missions, such as suppression of enemy air defense (SEAD).
