The Officer in PR is not even an officer, he depicts a fireteam leader(Cpl) or maybe even a squadleader(Sgt). What a fireteam leader usually carries is the M203/M16 combo, not the M4.Fearosius wrote:To further atract people to use the Officer kti when SL, why not give them the M4 with the red-dot. I heard they give Officers these, but theey can get the opp. to have the M16 as well.
Post your thoughts.

I'm sure that I've seen this suggestion before, but couldn't find it myself using the search function, so I can't get mad at the OP for that
Anyway, this topic has been talked about before, with multiple weapons being proposed, but usually ended up with a) the SL having a worse weapon than the others would make it a less enviable position or b) the SL having a better weapon than the others might lead to people becoming SL just for the weapon, not to lead a squad.

It would be Sgt. Squads normally operate in 6, divided into 3 man fire teams. (At least in the british army, I assume the US operates in the same way.)00SoldierofFortune00 wrote:The Officer in PR is not even an officer, he depicts a fireteam leader(Cpl) or maybe even a squadleader(Sgt). No, I'm in a fireteam of 5 Marines. There are usually 2 Cpls in a fireteam with 1 as the fireteam leader, then we have another fireteam of 5Marines, and then the SL of both fireteams who is a Sergeant.Ecko wrote:It would be Sgt. In BF2/PR as I said, it is a little different. The squads, which would be fireteams in real life probably, are just basically smaller versions of a full size squad, with the SL as a leader, and a pointman if a SL designates someone. So their rank would depend on how you interpret BF2 and what they intended, but 6 men is far too few people for a squad in the American military. More like 10+. Having 2 or 3 fireteams depends on the amount of men in the squad. If there are not many, then 2 fireteams as opposed to 3.
I guess this is how the British Army operates
wiki
In military terminology, a squad is a small military unit led by a non-commissioned officer (NCO) that is subordinate to an infantry platoon. In countries following the British Army tradition (Australian Army, Canadian Army, and others) this organization is referred to as a section. In most armies a squad consists of eight to fourteen soldiers, and may be further subdivided into fireteams.
In the United States Army, a squad is composed of two fireteams of four or five soldiers each. In the United States Marine Corps, a squad is typically composed of three fireteams of four Marines and a squad leader who is a junior NCO.

Yea, I meant the USMC fireteam leader using the M203/M16 combo while the US Army ingame would use the M203/M4 combo.Prydain wrote:The British military has a corporal leading each section of eight soldiers. It is played out as:
Pairs - Two soldiers
Fireteam - Two Pairs
Section - Two Fireteams
The Idea is flawed as the USMC does not use the M4. When the US army comes, the soldiers will be equiped with M4A1's.
O, and pretty much the USMC fireteams(Ready/Pointman, Team/fireteam leader, Fire/SAW, Assist/Assistant Rifleman) are the same as British fireteams, though they are probably larger. And the US doesn't have "pairs", but 2 troops are designated to rush during fireteam rushes.

Pairs are more like unofficial accomplices as you enter buildings or need to act as a pair. The weapons assigned to each fireteam are most possably; x2 L85A2s w/ L17A1, a L108A1 or L110A1 and an L7 in one fire team wile the option of a L86A2 or L7 in the other. Having said that a fire teams selection of weapons depends on many factors including complacent armourers, role, regiment, ect.00SoldierofFortune00 wrote: O, and pretty much the USMC fireteams(Ready/Pointman, Team/fireteam leader, Fire/SAW, Assist/Assistant Rifleman) are the same as British fireteams, though they are probably larger. Yes, they do, but not every grunt has one.Prydain wrote:The Idea is flawed as the USMC does not use the M4.
No, they will be equipped with M4s. M4A1 has unrestricted full-auto, which is not issued to conventional forces.Prydain wrote:When the US army comes, the soldiers will be equiped with M4A1's.
